I've only played both games once but last time with ToS, you don't have the whole thing with you don't know if there's cult or Unseen. And like the whole elect a king, converting etc
I find ToS to be more straightforward than Throne of Lies.
I think we might be in an evening phase like the last time we played ToS. We started with a short day phase so players could get to know eachother before the first night phase.

But you do know whether or not there is a Cult or an Unseen. Paladin or Sheriff can claim, simple. The whole converting thing is something that occurs in ToS as well. There's a role called a vampire that converts just like Cult/Unseen.
I can agree on the roles part though. But the mechanics in ToS are not straightforward. They're pretty retarded actually.
Pro-tip for you guys, even though this is just the evening phase for people to come say hi, joke around, and whatnot, it doesn't mean some actual scum hunting can't be done in this portion of the game. Don't blow off the EP as a joke phase.

oh man I love playing town of salem I sure hope the veteran will not kill the doctor, the vigilante will not shoot the mayor and the lookout will not leave the game in d1
