But I was thinking about it recently because I'm reading this book on jewish history. A thing my rabbi wanted me to read as part of the conversion process.

There were parts of that book that made me legitimately sad. I think I cried a couple times in the holocaust chapter. And I kinda realized, America did comparably evil shit to black and native americans, however America was never really held responsible for its crimes against humanity in the same way Germany was.
You still have people flying confederate flags. I live in Texas and have seen it several times. And at least from my understanding of German culture, they have a completely different relationship to the nazis than what the Americans have with the confederates.

I feel like America needs to hold itself responsible for the evil things it has done to its fellow citizens. And I think Black people deserve compensation for the stolen property and labor that America took from them. Same with the Native Americans.

Even MLK and Malcolm X didnt agree with reparation cause it wouldnt solve any problems.

I saw the movie and it's just more 'men are the problem' junk. It's about a world of Barbies and Kens where the Barbies control everything and the Kens follow behind.

The main Barbie and Ken go to the real world and are affected by the pAtRiArchY, with Barbie getting her slapped by a man in broad daylight surrounded bt people, and Ken letting his "toxic masculinity" cloud his judgment(in reality Ken experienced mutual respect for the first time and wanted to hold onto it). Back to the Barbie world, main Ken uses his new pAtRiArchY powers to unite the Kens and gain control. The movie ends with the Barbies back in control with the Kens happily knowing their place.

The issue with Ken is that he has no substance besides being a man.

Barbie is everything. She's a doctor, lawyer, president, etc.
Ken can't do anything. He's completely incompetent. His entire life revolves around female approval which he feels entitled to receive.

The movie ends with Ken learning to define himself as something other than a partner to barbie, and its implied that the Kens go on to work on improving themselves afterwards.

Overall, the movie seemed less of a criticism of "men" and more of a criticism of this toxic "nice guy" personality that many men have.
