Exactly, this is why I think Kaido is the best villain in One Piece. He's a man who was abused by the system, set out to change the world and actually did it.
This is also why I really like the scene where Yamato asks him why he is enslaving the people of Wano and Kaido tells her that there are no easy answers in this world. He was doing it for all the reasons you said.

The other opponent dominates, does a final attack on luffy, he almost loses until he thinks of his friends and then wins the fight.

The next ryuma* doing so in the land of the samurai it's the point, story wise it is more impactful.

The plan to take down Kaido started with Luffy and Law alliance all the way back in 2012 during Punk Hazard and having it be finalized with Luffy's subordinate beheading the strongest antagonist yet just so Oda can make reference to an old one shot from almost 3 decades ago would be the most disappointing conclusion ever

It was alright, the final blow was kind of underwhelming, thought Kaidou would fall down at breakneck speeds. I already checked out of this fight when the clash was initiated, 3 episodes of the same giant fist isn't exactly exciting. The fight peaked in 1074, that was an insane episode.

forget anime, in manga itself it was dragged for 3 chapters...main problem with this fight is Oda broke the flow with so much live floor nonsense and gave abrupt ending with big punch...

Law plan was to mess up the smile production so Kaido can kill Doffy if he died it was ok for him.
This alliance was a sham until Luffy achieved something law couldn't picture.
