Chapter Discussion Why do Admirals still have fans after this chapter

I find the Celestial Dragons very funny - Garling one of my new fav characters, mf is badass.

Oda's story writing is awful, trying to create pure evil villains who do evil for the sake of it instead of a greater goal or deeper meaning, just to create a black and white story was his worst decision so far, its so bad I cannot even take it serious. Celestial Dragons all the way, fuck Kuma's dad, dude looked ugly and was annoying af.

Admirals are like the Black Order from MCU.

They are badass and claim to be good all in the name of "justice" and "preserving balance" but in reality maintain an atrocious status quo in the OP world like slavery and defending a bunch of Hitlers.

At the same time, there are the Gamoras and Nebulas, people like Kuzan and Issho who gain/understand their position and are morally conflicted about it. Retire from it to do things their own way.

You can like one Admiral while hating another, same with Yonkos. I like Kuzan a lot, doesn't mean I have to like a piece of trash like Greenbaum.

What I’ll never get is the absolute hatred for the Admirals some people have. Sure it’s from the more neurotic side of the fandom and people with questionable behaviour to begin with….but is it that serious?
That night and day all they’d seem to think about is some bizarre way to hate on characters in a fictional story?

Sure a lot of it seems to stem from bizarre powerscaling brain rot and hatred for the Admiral’s strength…but that cannot be the full story with the lengths some people go. It’s truly mind-boggling.

I don't read MCU. Is there a Imu like character at the top?

Lol, imagine stopping being a fan of a character because of one chapter.
Depends what's in the chapter. For some mangas the author took the wrong turn and i no longer find the character appealing.

Look I'm a yonko stan and regularly make fun of the AdmiraLs, but like at least the Admirals are trying to protect people from pirates who are by and large evil. Big Mom and Kaido basically colonize most of the New World and are worse landlords than the WG (which is quite a feat). Luffy's the exception to the rule of evil pirates remember?

I'm starting to believe that the tournaments are probably administered by the Gods Knights and Garp + admirals are only called in to save the CDs once Rocks showed up. God Valley is probably where Garp decides not to become an Admiral.

On their power levels (if thats really the biggest takeaway someone gets from the Admirals as characters), they are on par with the Yonkos but are held back by their loyalty to the Celestial Dragons. If Kizaru were to find it in himself to stand against Saturn, I do not doubt he could unlock conquerors. Kizaru is one of the OG 3, but he has the weakest will of them all and his mission isn't helping.

edit: confused this with a different thread

Teach is my favorite character, on some days Doffy ranks higher than the admirals for me, and he's pure scum. That's what makes characters like them entertaining. So are basically every villain Luffy has faced. Just horrible, horrible people. Even a minor villain like Captain Kuro schemed to murder his entire crew, Crocodile was a war monger and profiteer of the worst degree, Kaido, Big Mom and Doffy were literal human traffickers, all of them responsible for literally thousands of deaths and ruined lives. Moriah was a kidnapper who threw his victims overboard to their deaths when they didn't fulfill his purposes, Enel was in the planet destroying business.

I found Big Mom's most entertaining moments when she was at her most cunning and most evil, e.g. when she was about to gleefully exterminate the vinsmokes, sending severed heads along with wedding invites, etc. Honestly I wish Oda had kept that energy with her rather than "weeding cake" and o-lin- that's what you'd what expect of a pirate warlord with the title of emperor.

If a character has to be morally pure for you to be a fan, you should be stanning the likes of Otohime and T-Bone. (who's also an underrated badass of a marine)
