Does it really matter who did it?

It really depends on how important that guy is. It would be extremely important if Garling or Saturn did that, somewhat important if it was another Holy knight's deed, not that important if it was Roswald.

Btw Bonney is a strong strawhat candidate. If she joins, her biological father (and her mother's kidnapper and rapist) identity will matter.

It’s Garling

Garling has been continuously highlighted throughout this arc. First he killed Myosgard, then we saw him at God Valley.

I think Garling being Bonney’s dad gives her character somewhat of a happy ending as it means Shanks is her brother and she still has living family that isn’t completely awful.

Also Bonney being Shanks’s sister gives Luffy a reason to seek out Shanks besides just the hat

Garling is a very unlikely possibility, IMO. He abhors commoners (and even lower nobles) and doesn't see them as more than slaves or games, so I doubt that he would marry a non-CD wife.

Bonney being a Figarland is still a possibility though, as there may be other members/branches, just like the Donquixote Family. I believe that her father hasn't appeared yet (he may even be dead by now, if he caught the "sapphire scale" too).

I think rape was never really absent in the story, starting from Nami's past and many other implications like Doffy and Viola or meme's husbands (yes, men also can be raped) as well as slaves in general.

Oda never really went into the details though. So I think Bonney's biological father will be of rather less significancy. Her basically being a copy of her mother strengthens this assumption as there's no need to introduce some CD douche just for sake of identification.

Celestial dragons are the final enemies and, whoever this guy is, he is the reason why Kuma suffered so much and Bonney is what she is. Not to mention the mysterious disease that almost killed her. It is still possible we'll never discover his identity but it is highly unlikely no celestial dragon is ever going to brag about what he did to Ginny imo

It’s very likely Saturn he married Ginny and possibly poisoned or one of his extended Jaygarcia clan .

He is this arc’s villain it makes sense he is connected to Ginny as well . I can see him mocking Bonney he was the poison his mum and her and he will use sapphire scale again .

If merfolk can get in love or even reproduce with humans (e.g.: Chimney), why not a fishman? Besides, Oda already hinted that all races are really close, maybe almost the same biologically (for example, fishmen can donate blood to humans and vice-versa).

Actually, Big Mom also has two mermaid daughters and a fishman son. It could be argued that she is a special case, but I don't know. Doesn't seem like something very common, especially when it comes to actual fishmen. We also ignore how they reproduce.

Just ralized that the one brutal stab in this chapter is not by Bonney to Saturn but exactly the other way around. "You killed my father!" "Kuma, you mean?".
