Character Discussion Anybody else disappointed with Kuma's reveal?

#25
There were all these theories about Kuma being a secret spy or being an indoctrinated slave for the greater good surrounding his cyborgification to the World Government.

But, nope. I want to save my le daughter from harm, so I agree, big bad Elders.

It's so boring and uninspired, especially when you consider the build-up that started since Sabaody.
Oh yes I'm so disappointed. Olda's senile writing is really tiring and I keep questioning his beliefs regarding racism. It took Oda 4 chapters FOUR CHAPTERS to build up what seemed like one of the best characters he's ever written and subsequently destroy this character entirely and turn him into One Piece's version of an Uncle Tom.
Congratulations Lolda:joker:

What exactly is wrong with him just wanting to save the only person giving his life purpose
It would have felt like less of an asspull had this character and their connection been established way earlier.

I'm agree that he being a spy for them sake of the revolutionry would be better for me.

Like Oda could use Ginny story as a excuse for Kuma do become this super-revo instead of anyther "doing for my kids"
No that's not how Lolda writes. In Lolda's story wives and kids are mere assets to the husband and father, mothers must sacrifice themselves or otherwise be turned into sexual objects.

Oppressed minorities must have infinite patience and be the nicest, most wholesome, gullible, harmless and self hating "spineless pacifists", waiting for their Lord and savior Nika-sama 🤡🤡🤡

You just wrote this after last chapter was all about a father doing what you describe.
All sanji theme is about freeing from your family shackles.
It's a childen's story and you are still missing the point?

It's like poetry:
Completely disappointed about Kuma's entire flashback.
Pre-TS Kuma is in my top 10 favorite characters.
Post-TS Kuma is garbage.
Edgy Naruto-tards, only obsessed about power scaling, fail to miss nuances of a children's story.
Maybe if they put a random sword in the chapter or somebody said that Kuma was the strongest dad you'd have been happier.

What's better. A flashback about a cliche'd "spy working for the greater good" plot line that people theorized 15 years ago, when Kumas connection to the Revolutionaries was revealed, or a story about a man who only ever cared about the people around him, and even at the expense of his own well being, would do everything in his power to make sure others didn't suffer. Then one day, after being riddled with guilt for failing to protect the woman he loved, he receives a small glimmer of hope and joy when that woman's daughter comes into his arms. But the World is a cruel place, and the child was born with a life threatening disease. So in a fashion that was true to his character, he did everything in his power to ensure the child's survival?

Decisions decisions.....

If you think Kuma being a slave having his parents killed, saving 500 people two of which becoming revolutionaries only for his girl to be captured, raped, just so she can die and give birth to a terminally I'll child that Kuma then sacrifices his mentality to cure only to become a slave again is good writing them your sick af. It's literally torture porn and Oda gives zero fucks about kuma.Kuma.

Oda could have focused his character on being a powerful combatant, or a mastermind, or somebody making a huge impact. Nope he just made Kuma a perpetual loser slave who ended up in the same situation every single step of his life was having his loved ones killed by celestials and never so much as laying a hand on one his entire life. It's also a stupid reason of Robin literally reading about Kuma and his abilities but in thriller bark she found out his power for the first time?

I thought kyros got screwed over in life but that's nothing compared to Kuma.

Torture porn? Did you just turn old enough to get the age restricted viewing option shut off on your TV? If you think this toned down depiction of the atrocities of the World is brutal and sick, you ain't seen nothing of the World yet, man....

I got some series for you that will give you nightmares. Series regarded as top notch in story telling.
