Current Events So why didn’t Oda just have Brannew say that…

#21
He literally didn't, being stronger swordsman and being stronger are 2 different things.

Pica used sword vs Zolo first, then he dropped his sword and focused on his Haki only, and thats fodder Pica trying that, whose Haki wasn't even highlighted like Vergo before.

Shanks's Haki gets hyped almost every single time he appears, only a moron would deny Shanks doesn't have better Haki than Mihawk, if he does the same thing that fodder Pica tried, Shanks would smash Mihawk without needing sword skill. And for sure, Shanks's Kamusari doesn't cut, and Shanks wouldn't really need a sword to replicate same feats. And same Kamusari style user Roger, wasn't WGS despite being PK and equal of WB.

Also, both Alber and Zolo confirmed using sword doesn't make someone a swordsman too. Shanks can be like Alber, no one says he couldn't.

Shanks literally says he doesn't play by the ''rules''.

Panel of Brannew calling Shanks a pure swordsman?
How about you give me a panel of Shanks fighting without a sword?

He literally did. Did you skip this panel or miss it in the new episode?

Let's break it down.

Objective: Bounty Reveal

Subject: Dracule Mihawk

What was said:
  • His former designation, as a Warlord of the Sea, was mentioned.
  • His swordplay/skills was brought as being superior to even the Yonko Red Hair Shanks.
Why Shanks?
  • Shank's was used as a comparison, because to the author Shanks is a swordsman of renown in his own right.
  • A former rival to Mihawk
  • To use this character as a hypetool for Mihawk. Which would justify Buggy's new Yonko position.
  • It would not make sense to compare them both, if Shanks was anything other than a swordsman
What Else?
  • Oda ends it with reaffirming Mihawk's position as the World's STRONGEST Swordsman, alongside being the best skillfully (skill & strength are used interchangeably).
That's it really. Even a brain damaged simpleton should be able to understand it now.

Someone who limits themselves to fighting with swords and nothing else.

Because Shanks can still be very skilled at swordsmanship despite not being a pure swordsman.
Bro Shanks literally fighting with Swords and nothing else :risitameh:

They literally forgot that there is another Famous Swordsman in this era named Zoro, Vista, Cavendish ( who they call pure swordsman ) but Oda Choose Shanks of All Swordsman to show that Mihawk better than him LMAO:shame:

If Mihawk's bounty was frozen ever since he became a warlord and it was locked in at 3.59 billion, and he's a one man army...that's fkin scary because he's been a warlord for quite a long time before the system got abolished. If he kept killing Marines til date it would probably be higher than Shanks' bounty.

Also the panel someone posted above is pretty definitive, even greater swords skill than... <--- when the word "than" is used it pretty much confirms that who he's being compared to is very well known swordsman, like linguistically speaking it's set in stone. To add insult to injury the word strongest is used. Now, if Shanks suddenly uses his fists or legs and these attacks are stronger than his sword attacks then fair enough, but how likely is that given that he's never come close to using anything other than his sword in combat? Not in the manga, not in the anime, not in Film RED.

If his most powerful/signature attacks come from the use of his sword then we already know Mihawk is stronger, because Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, these are facts stated by the manga that we all read, not an opinion.

Exactly it would make more sense, using their logic, to compare Mihawk to the recently made 111B Beri Master Swordsman Zoro. But nah we got Shanks, rightfully so :steef:

Panel of Brannew calling Shanks a pure swordsman?
Panel of "pure swordsman" being a legit concept in one piece?

Guess who else is a pirate? The strongest swordsman

One Piece is the only piece of fiction where fans would doubt a character like Shanks is a swordsman.

That alone exposes the copium.

Even things like "Mihawk is more skilled but Shanks has more [whatever]" are just headcanon copium, because the better they can hope for is for Shanks to be equal to Mihawk based on them having been rivals in the past, but that's not the case, only one of them is the strongest.

Brannew mentioned Mihawk having specifically more skill? That's cool, Mihawk is stronger and more skilled, kind of expected.

Why didn’t Brannew just say that “Hawk Eyes is even stronger than Red Hair!” His job was to hype up Mihawk to justify his bounty. Surely saying that Mihawk is just straight up stronger than Shanks would be more hype than just saying that Mihawk exceeds Shanks only in sword skill?
His narrative doesnt benefit from hyping Mihawk all out at this point.
It is time to hype up Imu and Gorosei. Even after them, it is not Mihawk's time yet.
After WG, it is time to hype up multiple DF users - Blackbeard and Shiryu.

Only then is he allowed to declare Mihawk as the strongest, otherwise, it would undermine the hype of those before.
And since we know that OP works on hype and hype alone, you can see why declaring now that Mihawk is >everyone is not really beneficial at this point. All future major obstacles need hype and it is unwise to place anyone above them right now.

its the same shit

Shanks’s fighting style can be whatever Oda wants it to be.
and oda made him a swordsman
it would be kinda out of character for Shanks to lock himself into a rigid fighting style.
so u are basically against his character trait ?
