I don’t like how fascinated people are with Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
I keep seeing stuff about her on the internet since she was released from prison.
I just don’t get what people are interested in. The lady was brutally abused by her mother who she subsequently murdered. It’s a horrific story, and I don’t want to keep hearing about it.
I especially don’t like the fact that Hulu made a tv show about her.
Imagine making a tv show about real life child abuse. It’s just morbid.
I would say there is a genuine conversation to be had surrounding the ineffectiveness of our systems to prevent child abuse. But I feel like that’s different from just fetishizing true crime stories.

The way the system is supposed to work,
the government is supposed to have the sole ability to enact violence against others.
And if you make it to where someone can orchestrate the murder of their abuser and not face any repercussions, then nobody would ever go to the police and people would just get murdered without trial.
Honestly the criminal justice system wasn’t that bad on Gypsy.
She did orchestrate a murder, but because of the circumstances her sentence was mitigated.
I have heard cases of other women(often people of color) who similarly killed their abusers and got the book thrown at them.

i think the state has a vested interest in the rearing of children.
As such I don’t really agree with the whole independent school district system. I feel like public education should be standardized from the top down.
Public education needs to be more robust and it should be mandatory for all children.
I think the idea that parents are the sole owners of their children is gross.
Yes, parents are an important part of a child’s life. but I think you need a significant state presence in order to counteract the fact that all parents have flaws, and some are even kinda shitty.
Like if you’re a nazi. And you want to send your kids to some private nazi school so that they can become nazis, I don’t think you should be able to do that.
