So are hardline communists fascists? What about militant religious states? Burning books =/= fascism
Lee is correct here, unless you wank to conflate “evil authoritarianism” with fascism and make it an objectively useless term, the clear demarcation is in the actual belief contents as opposed to the actions taken.
Fascism stems primarily from a belief in discrimination and hierarchy itself.
Many ideologies are virtually indistinguishable if you look at the actions their adherents take, the belief content is what matters most for delineating them.
Where has Akainu ever referred to the CDs with reverence in the entire story? Lee gave clear examples of the opposite so the burden of proof is on you.
Anyone who supports a fascist regime intentionally and knowingly is a fascist by action. Akainu is simply not a party leader, he's a loyal member of the WGs version of the SS.

I get your trying to figure out Akainus more intricate political views, but at the end of the day what matters is the result of his very intentional choices. Which all revolve around making sure pirates are suppressed, and securing the interests of Marie Jois.
I am very confident many of those in fascist regimes had all sorts of quibbles with them. But at the end of the day, Akainus more than just a card carrying Marine, he's the personal bodyguard of his fascist leaders.

And? That means he worships CDs?
If your boss at work got slapped by an assailant you would probably defend them, that doesnt mean you would suck them off or view them as a god lol.

I agree that at the end of the day the results matter over everything else.
But that also doesn’t make someone on a fascist on its own.
Again I have no political stakes in this discussion at all, I just think we need to make sure terms actually mean something, because otherwise the word itself becomes less useful.
He's just a collaborationist though, and his actions as a sword member (and against Akainu) show his true allegiance. When push comes to shove over at the marines, I'm more than certain he'll fight against the fascists. Akainu will not.
To me, it seems like Oda introduced Aramaki as a parallel to Akainu and what he could have been/become, just like how Issho is a parallel to what Kuzan could have been if he was less lazy.
There's a massive difference between being a nazi party member and joining the marines to uphold lawful order . the alternative is anarchy . stop being obtuse and comparing this to a complex real life situation. its not the same
