Break Week How can you enjoy Kaido in Wano arc?

Kaido was hyped as being stronger than Oden, but the only reason he beat Oden in there fight is because of the hostage situation. Oden was literally going to defeat Kaido prior to the hostage which undermines Kaido’s claim to be the strongest and dehypes Kaido as an antagonist.

To compare that relationship to Aokiji idolizing Garp is ridiculous.
Kaido fought Oden in his Dragon form the entire fight. It's not that hard to suffer a lot of damage, when you paint yourself to be an Island sized target. Oda purposefully kept Kaido out of his human form for whatever reason. But what he do know, hostage situation or not, is that Kaido in human form possessed the strength to end the fight in a single blow. Can we honestly say that Kaido would have suffered the same amount of damage or even would have received the wound that he did, had he been in his human form the entire time?

He was never meant to be the strongest. Just what people say. So just people hyping him up.
That's interesting and if we look at his hype with a little bit of Nuance, it would make sense.

I think its a case of perception vs reality, when perception to the world is that Kaido has won his battle with Oden, reality is that he won due to taking unfair advantage. Perhaps it could be that Kaido has won majority of his fights through cheating, dirty tactics, hostages etc but world just looked at his victory record and ran with the idea that Kaido is invincible in 1v1 battle. I think Oda did that on purpose because he doesn't want the man who represents peak of One Piece power scaling to go down in the middle of the story.

Perception vs Reality was very much evident in whole cake Island with Katakuri's siblings buying the false perception that Katakuri has created with his made up perfectionism and a victory record that is supposed to be legendary rest of the world doesn't care about. A record so irrelevant to the unbiased people of the world that they don't recognize him as king of 1v1 fights, instead they recognize Kaido as one. So much so that Big News Morgan didn't even mention Katakuri's undefeated record while giving Luffy his 1.5 Billion belly bounty, I mean he didn't even specifically name drop Katakuri, instead he was just one of the two sweet commanders that Luffy defeated. Obviously if Big News Morgans bought false perception of Katakuri that his siblings did, his defeat would be one of the main focuses of his new article. There are many more examples but I feel like it deserves a thread of its own.

Anyways point is, it is very possible Kaido's reputation is simply a result of false perception the world has regarding him and not that he is actually all that.

Well, then Mihawk is not WSS since Marians solders can't decide who is WSS Zoro or Mihawk. There's no organisation that gives those titles it's just people who call them that way.

Careful. You're going down a slippery slope here. Mihawk still ain't went and got that rematch with Vista yet. :smithnie:
And Vista still acknowledges him as the WSS. That's the thing, isn't it? Swordsmen (as per definitions used by you guys) consider him to be the strongest.

Oden didn't think Kaido was the WSC. BM doesn't think so. WB or Shanks or Admirals don't think so either. As far as they are concerned, Kaido is just a mere Yonkou.

I am pretty safe. Thanks for your concern.

Mihawk and wb had offical title boxes saying worlds strongest. Kaido did not.
But their titles weren't given by organizations it's just people who call them as such, you can push your box agenda and I can push my organization agenda, at the end of the day characters are what Oda called them to be you are like those people who deny Mihawk titles. Kaido will be the undisputed WSC as long as Oda hasn't proven it otherwise.

No. Im not talking inverse.
The mangaka gave 2 offical boxes to mihawk and wb.
He did not give any to kaido outside of king of beasts. There is no wsc title in this manga
