Why? Queen was a tricky fighter. He’s strong and big yes; but his main powers were the versatility and trickiness of his technology. That’s the big difference is Sanjis opponents almost all have that trickiness. Whether it’s Bon who used his friends faces, Jabra who kept using dirty schemes and lies to try and catch people off guard, or Absalom the invisible man pre timeskip and now Queen.
The one who fits this pattern is the hypnotist and the fact that people try and say Burgess or Pizarro fit just make no sense cause both are 2D fights with just “big punch” or “strong punch.”
That’s why I say it’ll be Coby. Pizarro working as a training tool for him like how Garp literally used mountain sandbags is very fitting to show how Coby can get stronger. Coby clashed with Pizarro here and was only able to hurt Pizarros forearm; and I’m sure Coby himself realizes that Pizarro was the reason Garp stayed back while everyone ran away.
The fight works narratively and power wise as Coby will become strong so fighting one of Blackbeards main 5 works. But he’ll never be as strong as the monster trio; so Pizarro who just doesnt have as good of portrayal as Shiryu and Lafitte works
People give Queen much less credit that he should have.
99% of One Piece characters aren't some megaman-swiss-army-knife-10-billion-different-movesets.
Sanji, for instance, have kicks.
Then kicks on fire.
And finally, kicking the air to fly.
Doesn't matter if they have different names. It's all just kicks.
Zoro has a bunch of "teleport behind you" different sword attacks names, but all more or less the same shit.
Etc.
Then you get people complaining about "laser spam". He used lasers, he used his drills, he used some cursed snake form, he used retractable limbs, he even used swords.
He's no more gimmicky than any Lunarian we've seen so far.
I too would have preferred Sanji vs King, and also would've loved if Sanji vs Queen was less fragmented. But saying it was a "bad" fight is just nuts to me.
Sanji had an amazing entrance, used a lot of tools, took hits, got PU's, and was solidified was luffy's left hand man, and y'all wanna act as if Oda has some vendetta against the characters because of some meme viral story of his VA fucking Oda's wife.
Sanji doesn't suffer any more than half of the crew does. He has less moment than pre-TS purely because there's a much wider cast that needs moments as well. So he gets diluted. Luffy and Zoro are the main "fighters", but Sanji has always been the main "non-fighter" of the crew. It's nothing "new".
The drought of fights Sanji had, or how lazy Oda's been portraying his personality is something every other SH, aside from luffy and zoro, is also suffering.
Here in Egghead Sanji had the best showing against the Seraphim out of the M3.
The Kizaru thing, it's much more Luffy's fault than Sanji's. Kizaru's kick did nothing to him but he was told to leave the fight scene because of the Nika show. Also, Kizaru is not Sanji's Admiral opponent. That's Aramaki. Him and Fuji had a similar introduction akin to King and Queen's.
Y'all need to chill the fuck down and stop acting as if One Piece is some generic shounen with 90% fights and 10% anything else. The fights were always One Piece's weakest aspect from chapter 1.
