Comparing the usefulness of the MC now makes no sense especially since the fight isn't even over + and tell me about Gon's efforts against Meruem?
You're talking to me about AFO but it's literally the same thing as with Sukuna, Endeavor certainly beat him but he came back being at his prime, it was everyone's effort that allowed them to overcome AFO. We are literally heading towards the same thing with Sukuna where Yuji will be the character who defeats him The Gojo vs Sukuna fight served to nerf Sukuna so that the students had a chance against him like for Hohenheim vs homunculus or All might vs Prime AFO. The only notable difference is that unlike the other villains mentioned above, Sukuna's fight takes longer and when I see AFO's treatment I prefer 100 times a Sukuna who seems invincible than the opposite.
Once again you speak as if the fight was over, Yuji is still there and he will be there until the end, dishonest to say that he contributed nothing to the fight against Sukuna when he is the only character who has been fighting non-stop since Gojo's death while having moments where he shone (In Yuta's domain, after his awakening) and by the way if Megumi was not a coward he would have won the fight thanks to yuji
Agree with all of this, mainly because you didnt get what I was trying to say.
In simple terms, I don't like taking out main cast memebers without any significant pay offs.
- Nobara
- Megumi etc,
Yuji has been fighting and I loved that, at the same time I think he should be doing more. Not just blackflashes.
People said the same thing when Gojo vs Sukuna fight started (that the manga is not over yet).
But I will be the first person here to say that Sukuna won't lose. He will be taken out in a roundabout way.
Maybe because of the merger or he will simply say, "okay, I have had enough fun".
While it can be a good ending and different from other shonens, but the pay offs for good side's sacrifices will be ZERO.
And no, Gojo didnt nerf Sukuna, he just made him transform into heian era form. Rather, Sukuna came out stronger from that fight with World Cutting Slash.
Where is the balance in pay offs?
It will be proven again when Sukuna defeats GoYuta.
That's why I said Sukuna can be as strong as he is, but just an addition of minions/secondary villains in final arc would have made the reading a more fun experience instead of just one-sided wins for Sukuna.
My purpose is not to hate on Sukuna or Yuji. I was just talking about why some readers feel burned out or criticize JJK i.e., lack of pay offs.
Just a Google snippet about story pay offs to make my point clear:
"The story “pays off” its promise. It also plays the other way. If you make the wrong promise, your audience won't leave satisfied no matter how well you tell the rest of the story. So, if your story's falling flat, examine your Promises."
