Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, lord Kitetsu presents another theory, one of Zoro's death!

Fine, fine... I will try to make it more convincing than the one with Zoro sitting on a grave thus he dies in ch.944...
Look at it from a different angle, if you have been bothered by Zoro, you will finally be free of him.
If you liked Zoro, don't fret, Zori is never truly gone!

THE WHY

Since the beginning of Zoro's story as well as throughout his voyage, the symbolism of Death has always been present.
It is present to such a degree that I simply can't shake it off and will try to put together all the pieces we have gotten so far.
While we were speculating about Zoro's death previously and deemed it impossible, out of nowhere, Luffy died instead...

So, in case anyone wants to dismiss it as impossible, as they did before, that is off the table now that the MC himself was killed.
Even Luffy had a lot of foreshadowing for death but nowhere close to how much Zoro has.
It's very interesting to see how the "thing that is hard to kill" will die considering a doubled combo of 2 Emperors couldn't do it.

THE DEATH

How did Zoro's journey start?
We are introduced to him as a man tied on a cross, unaware that he is scheduled for execution.
The inspiration for it comes from the most famous man on the cross who did what exactly? He died.

Ever since the beginning, we have been watching the journey of a man who is destined to die.
It has been foreshadowed numerous times, there are literal statements of it such as Kuma's: You will die.
Zoro has been walking on a thin line between life and death several times and every time, he managed to pull through.
Many of Zoro's attacks also have the naming scheme of death and hell, in fact, we could tie all of Zoro's attacks to the 6 paths.
The famous Shishi Sonson has gotten a prefix in post-TS and now it is called Death's Lion Song.
When Zoro used Tatsumaki for the first time in post-TS, he told the victims it would follow them to the depths of hell.

Those same victims made a comment on the attack and said it looked like the scythe of a Grim Reaper!
Only for a Grim Reaper to appear with a scythe swinging at Zoro, back in Wano, which btw is another foreshadowing for Zoro dying.
Speaking of Tatsumaki, the new prefix Kokujo refers to one of the 8 hot hells in Buddhism.
Speaking of hot hells, there are also cold hells and the new attack used to beat Lucci refers to them with Kokoba.

Hell theme is so much in our faces after the newest power-up, the King of Hell as it can be applied to all attacks...
Dragon Damnations also has a reference to hell - 103 measures of potatoes hell.

Speaking of Hell, it is more and more present around Zoro as the story advances.
It all started with Zoro standing at the gates of Hell and getting a glimpse of Hell.
We started with a glimpse of hell and now we have progressed to the king of hell... And we are still not done with Zoro's path to hell.
The man whose journey started on a cross is every day closer to facing the man who will swing a deadly cross at him - Yoru!

The attack against Kaido has also foreshadowed that all this is just a dead man's game.
Since all the way back in East Blue, Arlong wonders how can he be alive and if his eyes are that of a dead man...

The more story advances the closer Zoro gets to Death. Wano has been the closest encounter so far.
Through Mink medicine's recoil, the damage from 2 Emperors combo attack has been doubled and brought Zoro to the bring of death.
How he pulled through is unknown but it was so close that Grim Reaper himself manifested and swung for Zoro's soul!

When will Zoro die? We know when he wont die - not before he beats Mihawk.
He told us this, that until he beats the Dracula, not even Grim Reaper can take his soul away and that turned out true.
Grim Reaper couldn't take his soul in Wano but he is coming back for it.
Now, what will lead to Zoro's death is unclear and we can speculate on it but death seems certain with all this build-up...

THE REBIRTH

Death this, Hell that but this isn't the end of our story!
Hell isn't the only theme surrounding Zoro.

Hell and Death are just parts of a much bigger thing.
Hell, purgatory, paradise - the cycle of rebirth!
Every Zoro's attack is linked to one of the 6 paths of rebirth.

Zoro is a man who is going to go through the cycle of rebirth and we are all going to witness it!

We are all aware of parallels with Luffy and all of this is already shown through Luffy.
His journey through Impel Down's Hells, Ivankov purging the Hell out of him and rising back to the surface also mimics death and rebirth.
Doubled down in Wano with Luffy's death and rebirth as well.

There are hints of purgatory and paradise through Zoro's attacks as well.
We all know the signature attack Purgatory Oni Giri!
Now we also got to know the Paradise Bliss Rashomon!

There is also the new secret technique in post-TS, the Crossing of the Six Paths.
I am inclined to believe that rebirth is what lies at that crossing.

There is also a possible link with death(rebirth) and mythical Zoan's awakening.
Zoro's Demon God is also such an ability and it is possible that his Demon God will awaken after rebirth.

Once Zoro beats Mihawk, he will somehow die afterwards and Grim Reaper will come for what he is owed.
Zoro's journey will not end there as death is just a beginning! It will be time to make the promise come true.
It will be time to literally become the King of Hell!

If I had to guess, I would say Zoro will strike a deal with Death itself that if he wins, he gets to keep his soul.
After beating something as impossible as Death, Zoro will run into a huge problem, his greatest obstacle - his sense of direction!

His soul will not be able to return as he is so bad at directions and that brings the risk of staying dead!
The soul has to return almost immediately as the body will start to rot without it.
If the soul is wandering for too long, the body turns into bones.
Luckily for Zoro, he happens to be a friend with a guide!

A man who is familiar with the process of rebirth and the soul's return to the body.
The man who has died and resurrected once before.
The man who has the soul powers and can detach his soul and wander of with it - the Soul King, Brook!

Luffy even makes a comment about Brook getting lost and failing to find his body saying that he is just like Zoro.
It coincidentally also gives additional purpose to Brook's powers - to be a guide for the one who is clueless with directions.
In the end, Zoro is way too powerful to stay dead. Land, sea or air, heck, even the underworld, they all know one supreme being, Zori!

That brings us to the end of this rendezvous, I hope you enjoyed it.
Lord Kitetsu, over and out. Until next time.

Zoro isn't dying, no one in the Straw Hats are. He will live old, possibly marry Tashigi and have kids.
Oda said in 2003 one of the straw hats gonna die

Did you know that Oda hinted Ace death with this coverpage?
The funny about this is that he made that hint again

(sorry, but I just found this image). Its the same hint, now Usopp is crying (like Luffy), holding a death card. So, possibly Zoro will die in front of Usopp.

Another hint of Zoro death:

Its say in the yellow circles "last one", "better"
