And you're putting too much stock in classic media outlets, no one care about ESPN narratives anymore lol
But I see a lot of people who hates the Celtics and therefore hate Tatum (cause they know he is the best player) celebrating that he didn't win fmvp.
They hate Tatum even more than the Celtics.
ESPN narratives are the same that are made by random haters on YouTube, X, etc, cause all that ESPN and rest of media does is to ride the wave of the internet hate.

Stats dont lie, best defensive rating, best all around stats both in the finals and for the entirely of the playoffs, and yet they succeeded into tainting his legacy.
This is the same as if 2013 LeBron wouldnt have won the FMVP cause Wade played Better defense, or cause Allen was more clutch, cause these two are the arguments made by ppl for Brown.

The only one who can beat me is me
Brown was the more consistent player throughout this entire playoff run. He deserved the fmvp just off game 3 alone, it was the most crucial win. The last 2 games of this series were filler. Tatum was bad in the first 3 games

Again, like you said, internet agendas sets the narrative not classic media. New media is hating on Tatum and the Celtics in general because they find them to be boring/predictable. It's what they do. There'll come a point where those narratives flip. It happens in all sports. And most players/teams will just have 24/7 haters regardless of how many MVPs/Chips they win lol

I don't think stats tell the whole story in this series. We all watched the games, and he wasn't their most effective player in the most pivotal games/moments on either end of the court. His legacy isn't affected by not winning an MVP in his first championship W, he gets credit for a great season/playoffs in general, and those petty narratives get forgotten over time anyway. No one remembers Kobe averaging 15 points in his first chip, it all counts the same in the end. If they win a couple more rings this will count the same as any in which he won a FMVP. It's really on him/Celtics to repeat now.

I feel that more than JB being more consistent or better which is a narrative unsupported by anything other than feelings, i think what actually happened is that Tatum was not better enough than JB, and so it was given to the latter.

Tatum is always put on and higher standard than most of the players and of all the players of his age.

yes, but we need him to be completely healthy for the regular season + playoffs. not interested in doing *anything* that will risk re-injury or injury somewhere else, we are literally fucked if he gets injured again. I can assure you there are very few Knicks fan that are actually taking this lightly

We lost Hartenstein god fucking dammit...🥺

He did get an absolute bag with OKC. Best of luck to him, NYC will always appreciate what you did for us the last 2 seasons (even if you did get cooked by Embiid in the 1st Round and put up a donut in Game 7 of the Semis against the Pacers in your final game with us)
