Orochi dying for real now means the focus is no longer about killing him in revenge, but is about saving Wano and the world.

Always felt Oda would have a hard time showing his good guys going to murder someone and actually succeed. Even if it was done to avenge someone. It's not like Law avenged Corazon or Nami avenged Bellmere either. Luffy took up the mantle and he didn't kill any of them.

On the other hand, if he lives it's no skin off my back. Just makes me think Oda thinks he can afford to draw pages and panels of the Scabbards exacting their revenge.

There is like a 0% chance Oda gives someone a mythical, hydra-like DF and then kill him by simply beheading him.

The fact it would be a bigger twist for a character to die from decapitation than survive it makes me laugh.

If Orochi genuinely stays dead this is in the top three shocks Oda has ever pulled off. A One Piece villain brutally murdering his ally in the present day, on-panel, completely out of nowhere? Nah, Oda, you don't do stuff like that.

Even if he comes back he has no longer a purpose or position to hold.

Ppl only fear him due Kaido backing him up ...

Kaido now told the samurais to pick a side ..being a pirate or die .

Is not like Orochi can return and the samurais will follow him against Kaido xD

So with no position , rank ,power he's just a pick off for anyone who has the minimal grudge towards him (assuming he can get away from two Yonkos and 3 commanders lol).

Since Orochi is 100% not dead, we basically just got the answer to the question is Orochi able to regrow his heads this chapter.

Orochi got a shit ton of screen time in the present and flashback just to be killed for good by Kaido when the war hasn't even started yet? a mythical zoan and we don't get to see his unique abilities even if the user is trash?

No way Oda killed off orochi for good without the scabbards getting their revenge.

Hes dead. Even if he comes back he’s nothing without Kaido. He not important anymore.

yeah, but its very similar. And just given how Oda writes his story, it doesn't make sense for Orochi to die the way he did.

• Orochi is a major villain with huge plot significance. His death had no buildup and was relatively underwhelming.
• Oda doesn't kill off characters on whims. He even brought back characters like Pound and Pell who should have probably died.
• Orochi has a mythical zoan DF that makes him a multi-headed snake and he died by decapitation. Every single mythical zoan shown has shown some sort of paramecia-like power in addition to simply being able to transform. Orochi has not yet shown such a power.
• the hydra, which has a lot in common with the orochi, can regrow its heads.

When you take all of these facts into consideration, its pretty obvious he isn't dead.

Kaido has already made mistakes like that and Orochi's special abilities may have not been tested yet due to Kaido's protection. Now may be the time to demonstrate it.

Well tbf, Oda is a solid writer, but there are a lot of PIS moments throughout the series. They tend to get more frequent recently.

At best you could excuse Kaido by claiming that this could've been just a ceremonial act in signaling Orochi, that he's done. No actual killing needed, just the ceremonial beheading.

Emm Orochi was never part a main character for the war.
With Kaido no longer supporting him he is a pick off for anyone which is way worse.
At least dying by Kaido hands is more decent.

Not knowing his DF doesn't matter I bet Yamato could probably eat it and show us all the abilities.
( So Oda can reference the full name ... YAMATO(a) NO OROCHI).


Coincidentally no scarbads mention any wish to kill Orochi ( maybe they know hes just a cockroach) instead they do want to kill Kaido .

How was underwhelming?

He was decapitated by Kaido himself doing exactly what he liked to do..

Pound and Pell have the advantage give offpanel scenarios .

Him no showing DF powers can be cuz he actually never mastered the DF due being a weakling ,Oda can give the DF to Yamato for example and show us properly the DF

with Orochi capping at 8 heads and in no tale is mentioned heads regrowing or stuff.

Moreover the death of "orochi"(creature" was caused by its own mistake ( it got drunk...lol) so it would be fitting for Orochi dying doing also a mistake ( cocky at Kaido).

Other 2 things that could be interesting. I belive he is still alive yet his sliced head was angry as hell and that could be an opposite of Oden smiling when dying (like a good D.).

On the other hand relooking at the chapter that had to be a pretty shocking moment if he really died yet Oda gave to that panel less than a page space... That shows that he is not even really trying to make this pass lol

Well, knowing that Orochi literally has a mythical zoan power with multiple heads, beheading him really seems like a rather questionable way for a murder attempt.

Anyone would question, if there's not a chance that somebody with such a power can survive that.

Why not go for the safe method and just beat him to death with your own club? A few thunder baguas should easily do it after all.

The card about Kaido knowing the Orochi df is weak. It would make sense that he doesn't know he can regenerate, or at the very least know he can regenerate that kind of damage, since I guess slice or wound Orochi is not something that happens every day. Plus if I was in Orochi I would keep it as my greatest secret since it can save your life (like in this case if it is revealed to be true). And finally there is also a good chance that don't even Orochi knew he could survive since he never tested (and how can he be blamed?) his df to this extent.

It's hardly PIS. It was dramatic as fuck, and if Orochi does survive, why would Kaido care? He can just kill him all over again, they guy isn't a threat to him at all.
