Pedro's sacrifice mattered, Perospero was permanently maimed from it, what will Atlas sacrifice achieve? Holding Nusjuro back for two seconds only for him to immediately attack the ship again at full health? What's the point.
Because he's the only one who knows lilith is still alive and he's already regenerated
Its worse if he doesn't try to take out the last targeted vegapunk

Mars is not a threat anymore and won’t come back anytime soon. I can see Venus sending an attack and Zoro blocking, but that’s about it. They’re in the safe zone already right beneath Goofy and the giants. Venus will be summoned to deal with Emeth.

Is this Dragon Ball or One Piece? Character deaths actually mean something in the latter, there aren't magical wishes to bring people back lmao.
Actually a lot of deaths were unneccessary and plot-wise did not mean shit: Monet, Vergo, Ashura, Izo come to mind.
Pedro's death was ok on a dramatic level and it was kinda bound to happen since Big Mom had already sucked him many years of his life. However his sacrifice did not work the way he intended to, as Perospero was able to continue his chase. So Atlas sacrifice might aswell result in a failure (it probably won't tho, the arc looks pretty over).
One the other hand, there are many "would have been meaningful" deaths wasted: Pell, Pound, Kinnemon and counting.
Death is really bad managed in One Piece story, it would have been better with the Dragon Balls.

People need to work on their skills when it comes to analyzing panels and understanding the intent.

You cannot debate what a panel means without having a foundational knowledge on how to decipher the material you're studying.
