I like the idea of their base abilities just leveling up drawing from their energy source.
Kuzan able to go absolute zero, or even do deep freezes without touching directly.
Kizaru generating his maximum charged lasers casually without needing to charge them at all. Or when he does charge them they are on an entirely different scale and potency.
Etc. it'd be cool to see some distinction from other df classes.

Sickbeard was indeed enduring a lot of attacks, but keep in mind just being stabbed by Squardo made him start having heart attacks. It was so bad that Akainu could literally just get a free hit in.
Garp managing to match Kuzan despite being stabbed is impressive, and although he did eventually go down, that's mostly because of him having bad stamina due to old age and his injuries.

This boils down to us assuming Kuzan couldn't use the extent to his fruit powers due to the collateral it would cause (having PH in mind) and that he had to limit himself to brawling + minimal fruit usage like Ice ball, glove and spear which are very basic fruit abilities tbh.

Yeah, huge blizzards should be the minimum. Freezing akin to Ice Time and Ice Age but without touch, simply by converting the entire environment into a blizzard. In the aftermath of Punk Hazard, it was snowing and freezingly cold, so Aokiji actively using awakening should be a much more potent version than that.
Also, given how hybrid Yamato's Ice beam matched Hybrid Kaido's Boro breath, just imagine how an awakened Hie could create an Ice structure like Flame Dragon Torch and breath the Ice beam equivalent of Blazing Bagua?
