Yea but it's clear to me now that Oda sees Kizaru as too close to Akainu in power, to let him go all out against Luffy.

If Kizaru fell this arc against Luffy, it would confirm Oda sees him as a commander, à la Katakuri, before Luffy faces off against Akainu, the Kaidou in this situation.

This tells me two things.

1.Kizaru is probably very close to Akainu in power
2.Luffy and Akainu will fight at some point

When Kizaru vs Luffy was going down, I was thinking perhaps Akainu won't face Luffy afterall, since I couldn't see Kizaru as the Katakuri (commander) who falls in this natural progression. But now I'm quite confident that Akainu is fighting Luffy at some point, and Oda refuses to spoil that fight by having Luffy take on someone close to Akainu's level going all out.

This is why I have Kaido beating Kizaru because matchups matter. Kaido is as fast or faster then G5 as he was blitzing the shit out of him and catching up to him when he was running away.

Kaido also doesnt have a time limit.

Kaido also can fight for days and has monstruous stamina.

So the matchup is in Kaidos favor imo.

Kaidou's hard to argue against, he's too well rounded.

I don't see a good argument for someone like Shanks beating Kizaru atm, plot aside. Since FS is no longer a counter to Kizaru like I thought, it's the other way around and Kizaru seems to counter FS, which is crazy. Since even the combination of FS with Snakeman (something with as much attack speed and as many angles of attack possible) was portrayed as light work for Kizaru, you will need some incredible AOE or some sort of environmental manipulation to press this guy. Just swinging your sword around is doing nothing. It's no wonder he was able to press Rayleigh so much in such short time, s.o to Ray for hanging on.
