Whitebeard wasnt in his prime at the time and we know nothing of what happened during God Valley. Nothing.

He's not the first character with tons of potential who has been wasted by Oda, with many being especially wasted during the Yonko saga, and he won't be the last.

You should keep your expectations about Kong, the Holy Knights, Imu, Elbaf, Dragon and the RA, the BBP and other characters as cautious as possible.
