That will also destroy a lot of headcanon since Oda is clearly hiding Shanks and Teach ancestors having an important relationahip with that 800 years for the final battles. Joy Boy isn't the only one had an importance history during ancient history, Imu cutting Teach poster is proof of this, if Shanks is from Figarland he also has family history related as well.

The main theme of One Piece is ambition. Imu and the Gorosei have been resting on their laurels for hundreds of years believing that they were immortal and would never be overthrown. Meanwhile Blackbeard and Luffy are rising upstarts who are taking the world by storm each and every day.
Those who claw and scratch their way to the top are inevitably going to be a bigger deal than those who grow complacent and lazy.

Teach is D and shanks is likely a celestial dragon. So obviously they are going to play very important role in this 800 year battle. It's also funny how people assume Teach is only Luffy's enemy when he is being targeted by Imu, shanks and possibly revolutionary army as well since he picked fight with them. At the bare minimum, we can say Sakazuki, Teach, and Imu will all be the major antagonists for the final war, but the question is how will Oda even juggle them. You can't downplay Sakazuki because he traumatized Luffy by killing his brother right in front of him. You can't downplay Blackbeard because Oda's clearly building him up for something big (he's a blend between Whitebeard and Xebec). You can't downplay Imu because he's the secret evil ruler of the world.
It is not much of an argument. Coming after does not mean you are stronger.
