Speculations Mihawk will take an L from the marines

#1
While many people fully expect the shichibukai to stomp in their upcoming clash with the marines, I'm not so sure of this. Kaido himself stated that the marines hadn't lost their minds when they replaced the shichibukai, meaning that the SSG has to be strong. Hence, it doesn't make sense for Oda to hypetool the SSG when they don't have any feats yet.

The marines are one of the biggest enemies in the series, hence Oda actually needs to hype up the SSG, moreso than he needs to hype Mihawk, who has already received more than enough hype throughout the series.

Another thing is that Mihawk is a very important character and post-wano, we will be very close to the EoS. Hence, Oda needs to get MIhawk back into the main plot. In order to do this, Mihawk can't just be sitting on his island like he has for a majority of the series. The only way for him to leave would be if he was driven out by the marines.

I suspect that the marines have sent an admiral and/or members of the SSG, to Mihawk's island. In this fight, Mihawk will be overwhelmed, become injured, and ultimately run away from the marines. Through this loss, Mihawk will either find himself allying with shanks or somehow interacting with blackbeard.

Also, an important thing to note here is that the SSG doesn't actually need anyone on par with Mihawk in order to defeat him. Multiple high tiers, if they are strong enough(say marco level), could be enough to pressure mihawk.

Unlikely, tbh.

Mihawk and Weevil are the Shichibukai whose plot relevance demands that they stay free till they eventually have to fulfill their role.

Boa Hancock is obviously the only Shichibukai at risk here, Oda's jump festa comment as proof.

With that being said, SSG didn't get that hype just to get clapped in their first use, so Oda needs to hype it up and deliver accomplishments.

If Mihawk gets injured and hypes the strength of SSG then that's more than enough.

Mihawk will be fine. He will hang out with the RHP and fight Zoro at Elbaf

Buggy is fine.

Weevil will be fine because he still has to play a role in the plot.

Hancock will get her ass beat and get dragged back to Mary Geoise after serving as a hype tool for Coby or SSG

:milaugh::milaugh::milaugh::milaugh::milaugh::milaugh::milaugh:

Lol someone needs to rethink this

Mihawk is gonna chop them too fast and he will regret that he was too fast when he sliced them up and he wi again get bored even if they would send an Admiral they wont be able to capture him lol lmao

Mihawk dehype needs to stop now

Mihawk was permanent enemy of an future yonko unlike Croc or Moria who were slaughter after one confortration he dulled him so heavy that it shook the GRAND LINE

Mihawk will casually dispose of his pursuers

It'll be a stalemate between Mihawk and whatever's been sent after him, a defeat for Hancock, god knows what will happen to Buggy, Weevil will have had something to do with Marco as well as SSG.

SSG isn't going to get dehyped, but it doesn't make sense for Mihawk to be dehyped either, who is still far more important to the plot- and the majority of his relevance is about how strong he is.

Imo Mihawk will do well as always but he will have to leave the island, the point is what happens from that point onwards?

Marines send after him something that can put up a fight aka an admiral or the thing that replaces the shikis but this is unlikely given that they just had the reverie with injured admirals and also can't spare forces to send after non imminent threats like Mihawk when there is 2 yonkos joining hands. So unlikely the marines will achieve anything bar setting Mihawk out of his island and in motion.

BB somewhat finds him and tries to recruit him to his cause and obviously fails. Then what? BB could try to force him but BB vs Mihawk of course will never happen, at best something like BB vs Revos (Mihawk leaves) or there could be a Mihawk vs Shyriu in order to hype Shyriu a bit for a possible fight with Zoro in the next arcs.

Wano is invaded by marines and maybe other emperors and so Oda makes Mihawk go there too. Maybe to ask politely to the fleet admiral why the bright idea? So that we have a war that is actually bigger than Marineford. We have a serious Mihawk do something and Zoro has to recogbize that despite beating King(?) he is still far.

He will never seek help from Shanks, at best he could help Shanks if he is in mortal danger (imo if BB, or some other smartass, is overwhelming him Mihawk will come to help but other than that nope).

I don't see how he could stay on Kuraigana indefinitely. He sent Perona away because he was expecting the island to become dangerous. I mean, he has his monkeys, but who knows what the fight will be like or what/who the Marines are bringing with them.

But there is reason to think that he could have defeated the first wave of Marines sent to Kuraigana. I would assume the Marines would just send more people if that were the case, but consider that:

The Marines were pretty overloaded at the time they were sent after the Warlords. The royal escorts are done now, but there was definitely a lack of resources at the time they went after Mihawk. They sent 10 ships.
Those ships don't have any obvious giant weapons on them. Are they attempting a Normandy-style landing where the Marines will rush the shore? Or is it more like a police standoff and all the extra police cars are really just meant to send a visual message but only the cops at the front of the line actually do anything?

Mihawk can obviously slice a ship; he can obviously slice 10 ships. So unless one of those ships has a crazy strong swordfighter(s), the SSG weapon, or a fucking laser, I would say that they're attempting to overrun the island on foot. This would be a really stupid decision on their part, so maybe they brought the crazy strong swordfighters, SSG, and a laser. Who knows?

Personally, if I were trying to take down Mihawk, I would just gas the island with sleeping gas. You could also try setting the island on fire or something. We don't know how big it is, but if you could make Kuraigana uninhabitable without having to get close, that would be the best strategy imo.

Anyway, I think there's a good reason to believe that Mihawk could take out 10 ships while they were still in the water, possibly before they even got to attack him. If that's the case, the Marines will be sending more forces, plus now that the royal escorts are over, they'll have more firepower to throw at Mihawk, so that's not a good thing for my boy.

I think Miho has to leave the island. I mean, do people really expect him to stay and die for an island that he just moved to 9 years ago? It's not even his! Sure, he claimed it, but I doubt he has any feelings of loyalty and devotion to it. He's a squatter. He took it because it was empty, plopped himself into the giant chairs in the castle and was like, "This is fine." I'm sure he's fond of the island and thinks it would be a shame to see it blasted to smithereens, but I really doubt he's gonna stay and fight to the death for its honor.

Mihawk doesn't concern himself with things like sentimentality.

So, where will Mihawk go?
All we know so far is that Mihawk is happy to be chased.

When Mihawk leaves the island, it will be because the Marines are chasing after him, not because he is running from them. Mihawk craves excitement. He might stretch this game of hide-and-seek all over the GL as a power move. He might try to lead the Marines somewhere dangerous just to see what happens. He might go help Perona and Moriah, too.

Teaming up with Shanks is also an option, and I don't think there's any L in that. Shanks has been seen teasing and goading Mihawk already ("Drink up!"). You think he couldn't talk Mihawk into staying with him if he knew Mihawk needed a place to stay? He would smooth talk Mihawk into it with some sort of "now is the time of great fates blah blah" and Mihawk would eventually reluctantly agree. Shanks is a MASTER of allowing people to save face. I don't think Mihawk would join his crew though. It would give Mihawk a reason to go to the NW, so I like this theory a lot.

Lastly, I think you need to define what "taking an L" from the Marines means. As far as I'm concerned, he only takes an L if he goes to Impel Down or dies from the attack. I would love to see him and Buggy break out of ID together lol.

May be, Mihawk left the island because the humandrils found peace and it was not necessary to bring buster call or other catastrophe upon the now-peaceful island.
