I see Robert winning this. I feel like he would beat every Targaryen except for Daemon Blackfyre and maybe Maegor
I think Daemon would lose without Blackfyre, but Maegar has a good chance with or without it cause of his size and ferocity. Robert's size and strength are really hard to compensate for, especially considering he kept up with Rhaegar, who was much lighter.
That said, I think Robert would've crushed it in a Trial of 7 against the Faith Militant. I don't think he would've ended up in coma, that's for damn sure.
Why would he be the favorite when none of his hype is verifiable and is hearsay passed down? This is like me telling you my great great grandpa can beat prime Mike Tyson.
Valyrian steel isn’t a lightsaber so I don’t think it’s going to cut through Bobby B’s comically large war hammer.
It's not just hearsay though is it, there is the White Book that chronicles all of his achievements, but more importantly, GRRM has been consistent in that when something is put through as misinformation, the source of that information is explicitely framed as questionable.
Aemon the Dragonknight doesn't serve the same function as Aemond One-Eye and other figures covered in the dance. Until new material suggests otherwise, we are to accept Aemon was indeed a just and heroic figure serving an unworthy king, just as Robert was indeed a great warrior whose might kept this Seven Kingdoms intact.
I’m also sure why the tilt isn’t being included because it’s the perfect judge for a 1 v 1? The skills of one of the most legendary members of the Kingsguard, up there with Aemon, was unhorsed by Rhaegar. And Bobby smashed this man.
Jousting and combat are to very different things. One is sport, the other is for keeps.
The former has rules and restrictions the latter does not.
Neither Rhaegar nor Robert used a lance in real combat, so why would their skill with a lance for sport tell you anything meaningful about a real fight?
