Controversial Why is the Spoiler Section the most Toxic and Negative section of this site?

Most of the One Piece community be like this ironically:

In a series about self expression, unapologetic emotional authenticity, rights for all innocent beings regardless of race too, freedom and such.

For such a "joyful" bunch, they want to suppress criticism and bully and shutdown any negative opinions and dehumanise them as haters, toxic, evil, scum etc. Exactly the OPPOSITE of what One Piece tries to be about and Oda's intentions with writing the story FFS.

r/Piratefolk is constantly brigaded and made fun of by the main One Piece subreddit (which is unironically mostly porn now and Kirosh was overruled as the one tyrannical mod and dethroned by an even more corrupt and FAR hornier mod who screwed over all the mods there) and also the memepiece subreddit which cant decide if it wants to be a diet version of the main subreddit or a diet version of piratefolk too.

For years I was constantly bullied and attacked by One Piece glazers for being upset with the series and having far milder criticisms of it han I do now. Its only because of the Youtuber Drizzt and this forum that I found somewhere I could truly express how I felt and say my real thoughts, not walk on eggshells and be forced to glaze the series and abide by the cult.

Its ironic in a fandom for a series all about love, freedom, compassion, empathy etc, the fandom is so narrow minded, aggressive, oppressive, hateful etc. I'm generalising a lot here ofc but they constantly do it to us too in the first place, so you reap what you sow too.

Ironically the more toxically positive a fandom is, the more it inspires more hate/criticisms of the series and in return/general. Equal and opposite forces. Every action has a parallel reaction. Yin and Yang. If a lot of criticisms were treated with more open mindedness, less ostracisations, demonisation and thus with more respect and given more of a fair chance than ridicule and insulting, maybe people wouldnt feel so alienated, disrespected, fed up, unheard and gradually become more hateful, bitter towards the fandom, series and author too?

Food for thought.

LMAO, our evil counterpart, BestGen hahahaha! Reddits true rival, our positivity will BLOT OUT THE SUN and the haters too!

Also another misconception is we just hate the entire series which is FAR from true and rational. Its because we loved the series so much, its because we, Oda and the fandom held it to such HIGH, Icarian (Icarus) standards that it has fallen so hard for us too. We LOVED it so much in the first place and thus pedestalising something so much, putting it on such a high horse was bound to end in tragedy and failure, in disappointment. The higher or bigger you are, the harder you fall after all. And everything that goes up must come down eventually too.

Its such a reductive, dismissive assumption to think we just hate the series entirely, we're not that insane that we devote so much of our time, energy and brainpower to something we only hate entirely. Its not some kind of fucking weird obsession like stalkers. Although some people love to joke that hate is just a different and misunderstood kind of love but thats a whole other messed up topic. Not even gonna try and debate that.

One Piece was absolutely fucking amazing pre TS, it had so much heart, soul and charm and a LOT of it is missing post timeskip regardless, its overinflated, bloated, missing a lot of its soul and charm, its shallow, pretentious, convoluted and overrated and nothing is gonna change that.

A 4 year long arc for Wano after Oda said he regrets Dressrosa being so long and drawn out says it all. I guarantee Elbaf will be extremely long too. Look at how milked Egghead was too.

Oda wrote far more concise, consistent, satisfying, emotionally satisfying and greater payoff storylines pre TS in MUCH shorter arcs, a fraction of what they are now and WAY superior. Quality over quantity.

One Piece has become fast food post TS and its lost its spirit. We dont even see ship ghosts anymore despite Kidd, Capone, Law losing their ships and whoever else. Barto now too even.

Look at Usopps treatment. Or Chopper the worlds strongest merchandise. Or Robin, the worlds greatest napper, bench warmer and secret keeper. Jinbei of the 1000 box hauls. The Great Delivery Knight of the Sea.

One Piece was much beter when it was far more grounded, humble and less pretentious, just like anyone or anything in life.

My love for One Piece pre TS will always remain, when the series still felt alive, real and genuine to me and nothing will change that. I love One Piece and its because I love it, that I can see and recognise how flawed it is and how far its fallen. Im not some kind of sychophantic/"psychofantic", delusional, elitist, in denial bullshitter.

RIGHT!? This community has given me SERIOUS Deja Vu with that game, its so on brand with this series and fandom especially with the whole Smile fiasco too!

I wonder if Oda knows about it too, would he feel some deja vu too? Hahaha!

I wish they had kept it to a linear story as opposed to open world survival, made it more like Bioshock overall but still an amazing concept of a game, I'm glad it exists. Far too relatable with this fandom ofc lmao especially post Nika too LOLOL!

To be honest,i think i'm just too old for this kind of entertainment. Very few things get me hyped nowadays. Chainsawman part 1 was very hype. I read the entire thing in a couple of days. I haven't been hyped about any manga ever since.

Yeah game was a disappointment but the concept was great. The One Piece hiveminds also remind me of the RWBY fanbase. The main subreddit banned any form of criticism, deeming it toxic and hateful. You even get banned for mentioning unfavorable comments of the creator which means he's toxic too lol

Aye I think we are outgrowing it too and the formula is going very stale too, times are changing as you can see with the receptions to the MHA and JJK endings too for example. But also the format of weekly manga is just too draining and toxic to the health of mangakas too ofc.

Thats a mood, I'm extremely hyped for the Ranma remake atm and also Arcane Season 2, there's not a lot I get hyped up about anymore (Red Dead Redemption 1 Remaster on PC this month though, definitely HYPED about that too though) but I definitely dont enjoy and get excited about manga and anime like I used to anymore.

I used to be so excited for Wano and even Egghead despite what happened with Wano and the Post TS so far too. I even let myself have hope for Elbaf, sigh lol.

CSM really seems like a wild ride but ive seen really mixed stuff about Part 2 of it, very divisive? A lot of people seem to think it fell hard though?

I tend to prefer looking for shorter and more completed series especially these days. Simpler stuff too. Im glad anime tends to be more 12 episodes these days, although 26 episodes is probably better still depending.

I think to Death Parade and how it told an amazing story in just 12 episodes or w/e. Same with To Be Hero a VERY bizarre, One Punch Man style series but more slice of life and way more absurd, I think 10 episodes of around 10 minutes each so around 1 hour 40 minutes I think, like a movie length series? Lol.

I find I enjoy things a lot more when I really lower my expectations and get pleasantly surprised like when I discovered so many new tv seriees, anime, manga, games etc I loved and enjoyed when I knew nothing about them and just dove in blindly to them. I think we need a lot more of that these days, more caution to the wind and not allowing ourselves to be oversold on anything, falsely hyped and delivered false promises. It just leads to burnout and pessimism ultimately otherwise.

One Piece has really lost its sense of adventure post TS and there are glimpses of it here and there but the story is far too large, convoluted, serious, gritty, political etc to truly be adventurous anymore too.

Oh snap, Im not surprised there sadly. Ive seen subreddits for games and other media really shut down criticism and gatekeep hard. Some of them get bought out by the developers/publishers supposedly which doesnt help. Ive gotten those vibes from the RBWY community somehow, although ive never checked out the series but ive had a friend who wanted me to a long time ago.

Reddit mods love to power abuse so much, Im so glad that shit doesnt happen here, for all the slander this site gets, it has the most rational modding ive seen especially with anime, gaming etc communities too and infinitely better than that cesspool, shithole reddit too ofc. Piratefolk mods are decent generally though.

Ive seen reddit mods perma banning people for the most trivial shit, the most innocent, non toxic shit, even just asking questions out of curiousity or people being associated with certain subreddits they hate. Its an absolute minefield and it feels like you're walking on eggshells there or through the minefield blindfolded even.

Not to mention the sheer downvote abuse there too, where they gladly suppress opinions they hate too ofc. Aside from twitter, reddit is the ultimate echochamber (could say youtube and twitch too potentially, especially twitch too) and its not a coincidence both sites are famous for people mass blocking without good reason and just blocking people by association and such! Ban spamming and such.

Another thing I love about this place is the lack of downvotes as it could so easily be abused here as it is on reddit too. Thats why I love the forum format too. Its also much easier to follow/read and respond to than reddit too or especially twitter, which is just a nightmare for me design wise. Very overwhelming and confusing.

Theres a lot of extreme power tripping, similar to Discord too. Having dedicated subforums for anything that people can moderate themselves with desginated mods leads to abuse of power ultimately and echochambers, especially when the reddit admins dont care and theres a downvote system to silence dissent and cover up anything critical and potentially important too.

I've had about 30-40% luck at best reporting actual extremely fucked up stuff on there, as in reddit admins not dismissing it and taking action and removing the posts or even banning the people depending on what it is. (A lot of CP related stuff ive seen on there, people glorifying it and shit and some pretty hateful, racist shit in general). A lot of the time the reddit admins, not even subreddit mods but admins of the whole site will see the comment and think its too vague despite being a blatantly extreme dogwhistle or predatory as hell and think its completely fine and dismiss the report too.

If I had to guess, probably because the chapter is mid.
:BigW:

But in all seriousness, I don't really get why it's a problem for some people when others make an opinion of the chapter based on spoilers, even early ones. If you want to be consistent, then also don't be positive about it. Maybe don't read discussion about spoilers if you don't want people to have an opinion on them. It seems to me the problem is moreso that those people just don't want to read anything negative period, in which case this might not be the best place to browse or discuss.

I'm pretty sure most "negative users" fully understand that additional spoilers may change their overal opinion on the chapter, but I don't see why that should stop them from making jokes or venting a bit. Besides, full summary rarely changes much as far as my experience goes, regardless of the fact that the "positive fans" like to pretend it always completely changes the game.

And as far as the spoiler section being more negative goes, probably because after negativity comes disinterest and fatigue, so those people (me included often) don't come back to talk about the chapter in the actual chapter release discussion. It depends on how much there is to talk about from the chapter I suppose.

We were adamant about there being no downvote option. All it would do is create toxicity and discourage people from posting. Always smaller hiveminds with that system.

As a mod team, it's because we're so different when it comes to One Piece love, tolerance for BS, punishments , humor etc, yet reasonable. It helps keep each other in line. Mod teams where everyone is similar, like ones where everyone is an Oda worshipper, is where problems arise. There's no one to call out reddit moderators and they validate each other.

Yeah. It wasnt any RL stuff but it it was comments glorifying it and lusting over stuff like S-Snake and Bonney. Like shit we've seen Rootbeer and others say on here but worse. Some posts/memes sexualising minors too. Usually dogwhistled though. Some of the game/anime subreddits openly do it though unsurprisingly though. Zenless Zero, Genshin and similar type games.

You're nothing but a bully. This is why Worstgen sucks.

Aye I appreciate that a lot! Thats such a great attitude/mentality and thus decision ofc. Thats exactly why Im so against it too.

Aye thats fair, you guys are so transparent/honest about it which I really appreciate it too, theres no pretentiousness or evasiveness too.

Yeah reddit mods are just a hivemind protecting each other ofc as you said, they just protect one another, birds of a feather or w/e lol.

I do appreciate how impartial the staff here try to be and how rational and such, its very different to how I see reddit and discord mods act for example, its constantly walking on eggshells with them and ive had mods of discord breathing down my neck for simple jokes/banter alone. Made things very awkward naturally lol.

I've likened this place to like a biker bar, often misunderstood, depicted as very rough and people may (or do ofc) get into a lot of fights/arguments but there's a real strong camradarerie and honesty here, people support one another too and when shit is real, this place really comes together unlike the fairweather, fake other communities. Its more chill and also more free, less sanitised/overfiltered or w/e. More of a you can be yourself type place.

I enjoy watching the banter between the staff here too, it makes the place a lot more fun too haha.

The author puts his souls into the narration of a chapter to make it logical, smooth and understandable and spoilers enjoyers get to experience that through hints and disconnected high and low point, without real narrative context and poor translation...

Adding this to what I explained HERE, I really don't see why people would start to feel like chapters are trash.... :choppawhat:

Wait.. :wellwell:

#59
It seems like the Spoiler section is constantly the worst section. The will see either a few sentences or a few cliffnotes for the chapter and immediately call it a "Trash Chapter" or and Shit Chapter". And the majority of the comments in the section are people being negative about not just the chapter but mite negative in general. Why do you think that is?
Check out the 'sensitive topics' section and you will learn the meaning of toxic
