I thought this was obvious? Oda shows care for characters by completely destroying their character arcs and pushing a flashback into half a chapter.

Still, I don't think this reflects negatively at Luffy, his level was established at Wano and his timelimit is exacerbated by Kizaru's speed.

I reckon Kizaru would have more trouble with Kaido, match-up wise.

After Luffy got acknowledged as Kaido's rival and then awakened and beat him, I thought he is clear of regular Admirals.

But Oda still had Kizaru fight him and leave the result in the air.

It makes me interested in what more will they showcase
