In an interview with Politico in 2023, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that "In the last 15 years, Israel did everything to downgrade the Palestinian Authority and to boost Hamas." He continued saying "Gaza was on the brink of collapse because they had no resources, they had no money, and the PA refused to give Hamas any money. Bibi saved them. Bibi made a deal with Qatar and they started to move millions and millions of dollars to Gaza."[20] At a Likud party conference in 2019, Benyamin Netanyahu said:[21][22]

"Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas... This is part of our strategy – to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank."
Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the accusations of funding and strengthening Hamas by calling them "ridiculous".[23]

On January 19, 2024, Reuters reported that Josep Borrell, the EU foreign policy chief, said while receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Valladolid that "Israel had financed the creation of Palestinian militant group Hamas, publicly contradicting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has denied such allegations." and that "Borrell added the only peaceful solution included the creation of a Palestinian state. 'We only believe a two-state solution imposed from the outside would bring peace even though Israel insists on the negative,' he said." [24] [25] Borrell also described Israel as having "created Hamas", but immediately continued saying that "yes, Hamas was financed by Israel to weaken the Palestinian Authority". [26] [27] [28]

> While this is a bad leftist method in the first place. I feel like in some case of right wing ideas that are close to conspirationnism, we end up with the same kind of rethorics.

Thinking through "sides" financing eachothers in conflict - while in some cases true - is very problematic as it completely negates the agency and the sociology of fighters.

People will have more weapon and ressources through financials help, but the reason to fight are linked to something more complex. And in the case of Hamas, it's not as easy as saying that it is fully a religious matter and fully a freedom one.

It's sometime one or the others.. and other time both.

Let's try to analyze geopolitics through a more accurate lens. Ok ?

Yeah because the US used Al Qaeda as a scape goat just like Israel does with Hamas.
Finance them and then say "look the bad guys are there so it's fine if we kill everyone for our own end"

Yeah because remember the "spring" when ISIS were the good guys?
I only say that today Israel blames Hamas and used hamas as a casus belli to invade and commit genocide in Palestine. This is just a statement of fact.
They use the acts of an entity they helped prosper as a casus belli for invasion of Palestine.
This is not a claim, this is a fact.
