This chapter destroyed the theory of Celestial Dragon doesn't eat DF.

Seems like the WG once possessed all the "five auspicious beasts" DFs. They were presented as prizes for the hunting game at God Valley. All six of them except Kuma's paw paw fruit. They lost some of the devil fruits during the incident.
Kaido - Azure Dragon
Marco - Phoenix
Belinham - Kirin
? - Pixiu
Pekom - Turtle
Kuma - Paw Paw Fruit
Pixiu appearance looks like similar to kirin. It's looks like tiger, dragon, and bear. The body looks like tiger/leopard. The head looks like dragon. It has a pair of wing like shandian/skypiean that cannot fly. The head also has a horn. I think the appearance is too similar to kirin or dragon that Oda just turn it into Paw Paw Fruit. These are deities that repel evils spirits, paw paw fruit sort of fit the description.

Oda handled the Gaban stuff well imo
I never expected it to be a serious confrotation as he's obviously friendly to the straw hats, but a old legend wasn't going to look bad in their first show off
Spent the first pages clowning Luffy, but not in a fuck the powerlevels way as both were obviously far from going all out
Had Luffy shock the moment he starts getting serious and have him going G5 while teaming up with Zoro to gang on him as a way to show he's a real deal. Stop fighting the moment shit was about to get real because he saw what he wanted. That way Oda avoided drawing Gaban gettting beat up in his first fight or him shitting on both G5 Luffy + Zoro (straight up huge power creep territory) while portraying him as a top tier.

Elbaph force is too stacked anyway kidnapping children are only gonna help them on some giants to get leverage or Gaban,, but such methods doesn't seem to work on Loki, and how are they evem going to take them to holyland anyway, they implied only those with the mark can pass through that gate. They might call for Marine ships but how long until they arrive? I imagine it's quite far but idk.

So a quick way would be Loki ending the arc at some point abruptly, Gunko might escape, while Loki goes to parts unkmown to recover his wounds, before he starts doing his acts on the world. Maybe that Mossa guy helps him leave Elbaph and recover

Yeah, Loki doesn't seem to be the type that can be blackmailed by hostages, he would just let the kids die.

Oda still probably won't write the kids dying cause it's probably too much for him; though showing the HKs threaten with kids, Loki charging, them offing one of the kids and Loki continuing to charge without giving a fuck would be some amazing and powerful writing lmao.

There is an exception for every group.
You are right about shanks, but there is also a bum among the old legends:

Bumgoku.

Oda portrays Gaban and Garp as Chads who laughs, Ray has so much aura, you have whitebeard who laughs at Mihawk tucking face then you get Bumgoku, the chearleader of whitebeard, the one who got tanked by pre ts Luffy and the one mocked by Teach.

Thriller bark was a fun arcarc. Good old pre time skip :doffycry:
