Honestly Al I will have to disagree. Animation carried DS from episode 1 to Ruis arc. Ruis arc was then pretty cool with him and his fake family. Animation kept then carrying Demon Slayer until Rengoku vs Akaza, then animation and Upper moons except for Upper moon 5.

well for me demon slayer's only selling point is the animation

I enjoyed Soul Eater a lot more than I enjoyed Fire Force myself, to be honest. I think the setting helped a lot, too.

There were always some discussions about how the two mangas were tied, as for the most part there were only some minor hints that they were linked. I won't spoil the ending in case you ever watch it all but the ending focuses exclusively on how both stories connect.
