the thing is you either have x problem or y problem but you most certainly have a problem as long as you don't agree 
And somehow I always found something redeeming in them, or at least I try to find something in them.
And I traveled quite a lot, and lived in different countries, even in my countries I have been in different towns and I have always tried to meet and talk to people, to learn about how they live.
So I kinda see myself as someone with an open mind.
With that said, I don't think I've ever talk to someone like him, even in other forums which says a lot because I have seen some crazy conspiracionists.

Valuing a source more than another means understanding why you must listen to said source rather than others.
You see, that the first trap people who try to have critical thinking fall into. They think they are capable of analyzing all informations equally. They think that their material condition is not important and won't influence the way they perceive certain informations.
Therefore they think that they can themselves sort the good from the bad. But what they are truly doing, is valuing ALL sources equally. By that I mean, they consider that there is good in every sources of informations.
This result in people picking what they like and in rejecting what they dislike in various scientific subjects in a depoliticized vision of the world.

To give you an example, he regularly butt heads with people over his refusal to use words correct by defintion, saying "language evolves" as an excuse. He would scurry the internet until he finds a source that unofficially defines a word the way he wants it as, belittling everyone else's intelligence if they don't accept it. He does the same for science lol.

What Van is conveniently invisibilizing tho, is that it is NOT the first time that we have been talking about Zemmi's daughter. Actually, Zemmi used her example multiple time in this thread as a way to assert just how good she was raising her kids. Especially when she proudly explained how she was agreeing with conservatist about woke in school and how she was proud to took away her kid from those school.
I tried to explain to her many time how electing Trump would be damaging for them and her daughter especially.
In this example Zemmi was defending Trump - who she voted for - and Musk after the election of november. I therefore followed her example and expressed how disspointed I was and her being proud of electing two fascists in power who will destroy her daughters's right and thus "congratulated her" on her being able to face her daughter in front of this situation, something I would not be able to do if I helped electing a FASCIST.
While this was a low blow (which I apolologized for because I still have empathy, even for my political ennemies) this was a perfectly legitimate remark. NO ONE with a daughter should be able to face their child without shame after voting for Trump. His racist and sexist vision will destroy women's right. And any antifascist should be angry at the moment at those who enable this guy.
And yes. Everyone who defend Trump or Musk loses my respect.
