Their actions could warrant criticism, but also, I understand the rationale.

America has taken in many immigrants over the last decades, now the government is scaling down and being more selective over who they are allowing to stay in the country. The government is in particular cracking down on the undocumented and asylum seekers, as well as other non citizens whose behavior they deem problematic.

I think if you take these recent immigration crackdowns in the context of the large amount of immigration the US has received in past decades, I think it paints a much more balanced picture. As opposed to “Le US is literally nazi germany”.

That said, I think certain actions the government is taking is very problematic. Like the deals with El Salvador to funnel people deemed as criminals into prisons without a trial.

Overall I think the conversation is a lot more nuanced than people on, say Reddit, would have you believe.

Proper border enforcement is okay

What ICE is doing is inhumane and unconstitutional. It is damn near fascistic to support it

I'm certain a lot of other groups have said similar things. "Yeah, they're killing the Jews. But germans have been tired of the jews for a while. So it paints a balanced picture, actually."

Every single trumper would be at home in Nazi germany. They have one layer of abstraction that allows them to pretend they don't support en masse killing or ethnic cleansing undesirables. Not a single one would change their vote if it did come out that every single prisoner was raped daily as a rule. It is constantly pointed out by Trump and his cabinet in word and deed that it is in fact based on their ethnic background and nationality rather than any actual rationale about illegal or not.

I don't think this type of person is reasonable. He seems like one of those types where they, with brief interactions and limited knowledge of a person, would interpret their posts in a specific way in order to use it as an excuse to express their hatred. That guy went way too far nameless by telling him to end his life.

Yes, absolutely, Catholics were literally massacred in Mexico. Republicans could have used this with the proper rethoric. I think it has to do with Trump trying to bring back the industry and jobs to America. More migrants means less work in those factories for actual Americans. Also, probably a racial thing too. The English always had a tendency to segregate themselves.

Putin rigs elections. China only has one communist party. You compared apples to oranges. This narrative that Bukele is a dictator is a left wing hoax. The guy got elected with the promise of eradicating gang crime and he did. Do you even know how many homicides happened every year in El Salvador?

The police by itself would never bring down the organized crime in El Salvador. The army was necessary. We have the same problem in Brazil and some other Latin American nations like Mexico.
