Their actions could warrant criticism, but also, I understand the rationale.
America has taken in many immigrants over the last decades, now the government is scaling down and being more selective over who they are allowing to stay in the country. The government is in particular cracking down on the undocumented and asylum seekers, as well as other non citizens whose behavior they deem problematic.
I think if you take these recent immigration crackdowns in the context of the large amount of immigration the US has received in past decades, I think it paints a much more balanced picture. As opposed to “Le US is literally nazi germany”.
That said, I think certain actions the government is taking is very problematic. Like the deals with El Salvador to funnel people deemed as criminals into prisons without a trial.
Overall I think the conversation is a lot more nuanced than people on, say Reddit, would have you believe.
