Apparently there's a super old source that he was alive 400 years ago (Ryuma) but it's unverified/not acknowledged iirc

With the direction the story is going I'd put money on Ryuma being from the Void Cnentury
Imu sees Zolo

Imu : Huff Huff
Can't be, you were dead 800 years ago Ryuma the dragon slayer

The one who slayed Loki's df from void era
The strongest among the strongest Ryuma

Zolo : I don't know what you're talking about, I'm here to cut you

I’m curious about this actually

This is something I’ve wanted to ask the devout members of the Zoro FC

Do you want Ryuma to be an incredibly important figure from the past that has ties to Imu/Joyboy?

On one hand it further guarantees Zoro’s relevance in the Final War but I know the whole “connection to someone from the past” thing is somewhat divisive

Similar to how some people didn’t want Zoro to have a direct tie to the Shimotsuki and voiced their complaints about that

It doesn’t really make a difference to me but I obviously don’t speak for all Zoro fans

Plays no role, imo.
Ryuma is, just like all others, irrelevant background characters from the past and no longer around in part of the story that matters.
He can have a connection to Imu/Joyboy but I think Zoro will not participate in the WG war.
There are too many allies to focus on there and it is not a place for most of the Strawhats so Luffy will participate alone, just like in MF war.

Zoro is Zoro
Won't change anything even if Ryuma was a fodder or a god tier

For Mihawk, he already top 1

So assuming none of the Strawhats play a role in the Final War (which would be odd but for the sake of your theory I'll entertain it) what would Zoro be doing?

Would be an odd time for some Strawhat side missions but who knows

Fair enough

It's weird and kinda bad writing that he is basically predestined to be the best, but since he is, I think it'd be nice if Ryuma were basically his Joyboy

Honestly don't care. Ryuuma connections would only be used for Zoro wank. But...
Zoro was the goat from the first chapter he was introduced in.

Oda even reused the same words zoro used to introduce Loki, one of the most powerful individuals of the series, over 25 years later.

Zoro doesn't need further validation, he's Zoro after all.

This year's Chinese zodiac sign is the Fire Horse. We know Oda cares about Chinese astrology, given the various themed color spreads and cover pages over the years, as well as in-story elements like the Admiral codenames.

Considering the Bakotsu yokai (Nusjuro's DF) is a vengeful horse spirit that perished in fire, maybe we will get some Nusjuro motion this year. :quest:
