I think a special class like Sword wanderer fits really good and it works as pun with Fujitora using his Blade mostly as a Wand, while being based on Zatoichi who was wandering commoner, leading a vagabond life.. Zatoichi was never a Samurai(Swordsman), he was trained extensively in Swordsmanship though..
