Sanji uses haki when he uses DJ, that’s why we don’t see the same black. But it’s become ever clear with IJ that that’s how it always worked.

Oda used Zoro And Sanjis timeskip training to rhyme with Luffys. Where Zoro got one on one training by a top tier and Sanji spent two years in an island filled with monsters, Luffy got a combination of these two trainings.

There was no retcon, The dynamic has always been the exact same.
Nothing to do with dynamic but the direction.

Do you disagree that we had more haki moments for Zoro and Luffy than for Sanji until recently?

Sanji simply had more Germa tech direction going on and now it seems to be more haki oriented

I disagree.

During TS, while Luffy and zoro got Ray and Mihawk, Sanji got iva. Oda put more emphasis on haki training for Luffy and Zoro while nothing really exists for Sanji.

Even during wano, we had Zoro and Luffy training for haki while Sanji didn't.

Since TS, Oda had plenty of opportunities to show us koka for Sanji but he didn't. Instead, we got raid suit and exoskeleton later on.

To me, it's clear that Oda has retconned Sanji PL directions - from Germa tech to Haki and Gaban showcasing right now is to fill the gaps.

I mean for Luffy there was always a higher ceiling - Shanks/Roger or even Joyboy. For Zoro - it was Ryuma /Mihawk. It was missing for Sanji. Gaban filled that vacuum.

We all can agree that Oda has done more to raise Sanji's ceiling through Gaban in one arc than in the entirety of post TS.
How did he put more emphasis on Luffy and Zoro’s haki training? Sanji came out of the timeskip with haki, didn’t he? He got CoO and CoA, just like the other two. And he was shown to have better CoO than Zoro. None of this would have happened, if Oda wanted to make a point about Luffy and Zoro getting a training that was more haki-oriented.

Germa genes were always about the exoskeleton, enhanced strength/speed and accelerated healing. Sanji got all those things already, so there wasn’t anything else to gain from Germa science. Haki was always going to be the eventual answer for him to keep growing stronger, Oda just wanted him to have something else besides haki, just like Zoro has Enma and Luffy has his godly DF. I’m not sure why Luffy and Zoro having those tools is always ignored while Sanji having his own non-haki tools is considered an evidence of Sanji being a less haki-oriented fighter.

Zoro had more cause he genuinely has no other way of growing. Luffy has had haki and devil fruit. Sanjis current strongest fighting style is done by combining haki and his exoskeleton with his fire. Heck his fight with Queen literally ended cause Sanji had superior coo to detect the invisible opponent before queen.

Hakis always been integral, secondary to his fire, the germa stuff is tertiary at best.

i dont understand it.

The okama masters most likely used some sort of CoA, much like the Kuja. In order to defeat them, Sanji had to learn CoA himself. And he did it solo. No teacher, afaik.
In order to escape 24/7, he would need to be aware of his surroundings all the time, which he did by unlocking and training his CoO. Also solo. No teacher.

But you're gonna tell me that he isnt a haki person just because he didnt have a formal teacher like luffy or zoro?
like, come on.

Let me ask you few questions

1) who got portrayed to use haki more during fights or to use to boost their fighting style?

2) Who got training and pep talk for haki until Gaban came info the picture?

I am not denying Sanji didn't have haki or some moments but it was after Sanji put aside his RS and we got Sanji vs Queen, that Sanji taking haki direction gradually became more apparent.

To say that you already knew Sanji would be set for such massive haki boosts would be lie because let's be real - no one really expected such massive portrayal of Gaban.

When did I say that?

I said his PL direction was more Germa tech oriented and after he put aside RS it became more haki oriented which kind of gives me vibe Oda retconned his PL direction.

Or do you all think that Oda always intended to give Sanji same haki boost like Zoro and Luffy (based on Gaban portrayal) but deliberately avoided giving Sanji haki training and Haki moments during battles like we saw in case of other two?

Sanji clearly had a different path until recently

1. All of them? Literally haki is why Sanji was able to use DJ as a continuous fighting style rather just a short burst and Sanjis CoO was pretty heavily focused throughout the timeskip.

2. Luffy because he’s the protagonist?

Again, Sanjis haki and his haki training was focused pretty heavily post timeskip. Significantly more than the germa science was. Even judge and his siblings commented on it.

He was always on a haki path. Idk why people thought he wasn’t.

Show me when sanji "haki training post TS" was focused heavily?

Show me when Oda portrayed Sanji using Koka? Don't bring me black outfit as an excuse because it takes a panel to draw differently or have someone comment on Sanji using koka.

And, coo? Yes it was focused yet oda didn't build on it as we anticipated. Where's the advanced CoO?

I think your mistake is unconsciously associating haki with CoA specifically. Zoro only got more emphasis on CoA, not haki in general. Which makes complete sense because he specializes in CoA. His CoO has never been more emphasized than Sanji’s, quite the opposite.

Zoro later got a CoC-related power-up, but Oda simply wanted him to get it first because he’s slightly stronger. Now we’re in Elbaf and Sanji is about to get his own CoC power-up too. I don’t see any retcon, Oda is being consistent when it comes to their haki development, with them getting the same emphasis in regard to their haki specialization + CoC.

I knew Gaban would have ACoC as soon as he was introduced, just like I knew Sanji would get it after volume 100 came out.:kayneshrug:

I still dont understand why both paths cant coexist.

I am talking about overall growth.

Both Zoro and Luffy had more haki growth (clearly visible) than Sanji.

Even Sanji CoO didn't get advanced growth as we all expected when we had Sanji dodging Kata beans and it happened nearly a decade ago.

Tbh, I think Oda retconned Sanji PL direction.

I believe Oda really wanted to go with Germa stuff completely for Sanji

But considering how people hated raid suit idea, he decided to shift to haki boost for Sanji.

I think this supports your idea. Also to take the RS away from Sanji he had to come up with that ridiculous O-Some moment. I'll always miss the RS, it was such a cool idea:josad:

Zoro doesn’t have internal destruction, which is the ultimate level of CoA. As for CoO, the only advanced, and therefore ultimate level, seems to be FS, as Oda lacks imagination when it comes to CoO. It’s more about Oda neglecting CoO than about Zoro receiving more focus on his preferred color imo.

But at the end of the day, neither Sanji nor Zoro maximized their preferred color and they still have room to grow.

Luffy is a different story because he’s the MC.

Sanjis CoO was focused a lot in PH and Dressrosa. His haki was focused on in WCI, and again we talked about how the climax of the queen fight focused on it.

This “Sanji never showed Koka” shit is probably one of the dumbest lines people spew. Cause not only did he in Elbaf, you may as well say the same shit for Harald and Kaido.

And Sanjis coo is already strong enough to be one of 2 people to ever see through invisibility and had no problem in his altercation with Katakuris FS.

Again you are just wrong about Sanji not focusing on Haki.

I think you aren't getting my line of argument at all.
