Speculations Imu isn't an endgame villain, Garling is

#22
Tbh this isn't entirely implausible like your usual theories. Imu showcasing his powers and even getting injured this early on is very suspicious.

I think Oda is setting the stage for Blackbeard or Gargling taking over the mantle of final villain. I would've preferred it to be Imu, and thought it would've been more than 90% him until this arc, but yeah it is what it is.

Imu becoming irelevant would be like Joyboy becoming irelevant

They're the two most important characters, Imu is the final villain
Imu and Joyboy are indeed irrelevant, relics of 2nd world.
That's why Oda is speedrunning Imu and writing him out to replace him with those who are relevant - Blackbeard and Luffy instead.
World govt is turning into family feud between Figarlands, who probably were one of the 20 founding kings.

When WG is overthrown, leaving no single ruler, as it was intended to begin with, it will come down to Blackbeard vs Luffy over who gets to go to Raftel.
Buggy will also have his 5 minutes here.
After all that, we should get to the original sin - removing all devils(fruits) from the world and that's probably where the true final villain will show up.

.
My only thing is that you're at least kind of taking the premise to the logical conclusion, the world government just not really existing anymore, collapsing between Garling and Shamrock, because they're both on the doublespread.

The majority of people who believe that Garling will betray Imu believe that Garling will somehow run the world government and act as an antagonist. As far as we know, there's no "day after" plan for a Garling run world. Would the Gorosei just bend over? Does he replace them with the Gods Knights? Does he continue Imu's great cleansing plan? If he's going to keep to that plan, why kill Imu?

I agree with that reasoning.

But Garling will likely be Monkey D. Dragon's main opponent.

the manga's and Luffy's final opponent is Blackbeard.
I never said garling would be final villain, he just comes after imu, hes the final villain of the celestial dragons not the whole series. And yes i think dragon will fight garling and luffy fights blackbeard. Oda is reserving both garling and dragon for now while exposing imu first.
