Until this fight shows a new power-up for Luffy and Hybrid Loki against Imu, it’s just going to be a friendly spar. I’ve seen comments bringing up Kaido, but people forget that Base Luffy fought Hybrid Kaido for quite a while. It implies that Oda doesn't know how to develop fights—many are worse than mere fan service, as the battle only gets serious once Luffy and his allies are in their strongest forms. It’s the same with Zoro; until he puts on his bandana, the fight is nothing more than trading blows between friends.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people think Oda would have Dragon/Shanksu save the day instead of Goofy powering up or getting some sort of plot device. Oda is going to need to justify him being the PK within an arc or two at this point

Shanks is a possibility due to Oda's glazing and his Elbaf ties imo.

Maybe defeating Imu will bring about something worse. Rayleigh said the Roger pirates made a choice against fighting Imu, Gaban seems adamant against them fighting Imu until the time is right as well.

Oda may be taking inspiration from Norse Myth where Imu is baldr here and his death will trigger the end of the world.
