Oh for fuck sake. Dude I don't care about main characters or the strowhats, don't tell me what I'm invested in, you don't know me. You're trying to tell me what I was invested in? What... Ok, I didn't like some of the arcs post-timskip but I was fine with them, as matter of act I liked Dersross and I was a weekly reader back then. Post-timskip end became with WCI and Wano, two worst arcs in history of one piece, 4 years of nothing.
"Nothing". Its funny how this complaint is never elaborated. What about "Nothing" are you concerned about? What is the "nothing" that has happened?

I'm curious to know this, because you've gotten super defensive about me stating the obvious with people's complaints about the lack of main character presence/interactions.

What in the honest fuck did Dressrosa achieve more out of than WCI or Wano? Curious about this one.

All this" build-up" on side characters is a literal waste of time. Oda won't deliver because he wants to finish the series quickly.
One just need to take a look at Jack vs the sulong dukes. Readers have been waiting for that confrontation since Zou.
Tell @Master OF Haki about this because apparently his definition of "nothing" happening doesn't involve battles or the main characters so I'm wrong about this statement.

And I actually agree with you on this. Its something that hasn't paid off yet. At least post-Wano wont carry the baggage of everything that has been built up since Punk Hazard.
It's just that sometimes I don't understand Oda. He focused a lot on scabbards yet the emotional pay offs like Kanjuro vs Kiku and Sulong minks/Dukes vs Jack were off screened. I don't believe Kanjuro is dead, but I really doubt Jack is getting another battle with the dukes after they already "won". Even if they stomped Jack there was a way to make it way more emotional after all the destruction and pain caused by him.

Well, let's get into it.
  • Great villain that I enjoyed a lot (unlike irritating Big Mom and Kaido.
  • Indeed complex storytelling (for shonen manga of course) involving: Marians, Pairets, Revolutionaries, Countries, CPO.
  • A lot of fights to keep the audience entertained: fights in Coliseum involving Luffy and 100s of other characters, Law vs Doflamingo, Law vs Fujitora, Zoro vs Pica, Franky vs senior pink, Ussop vs Shuger, all the grand fleet vs Doflamingo family, the list goes on. I mean come on, Sobo vs Fujitora🤗.
  • Great cost of characters from Admiral to future grand fleet members.
  • Creation of grand fleet (the most important thing that happened in post timskip.
  • Ussop awakening haki
  • Good side characters like: king Riku and all his family.
  • Good emotional story about fother and daughter
  • Sabo eating Ace's DF.
  • Sabo defeating Jesus Borges.
  • Finding out Law secret DF ability
  • Finding out about the treasure Mary Geoise
  • Luffy using gear 4th first time
  • The list goes on and on

I agree with Kanjuro. Something is up with this and maybe thats why he offscreened it? It certainly did rub me the wrong way, but if its "resolved" by having him have a deeper role later down the line, then great.

With the Mink Kings vs. Jack, I agree. It was undeniably set up. Years of discussion about Jack vs. Inu/Neko was on the table because that is the info we were fed. At this point, it DOES look like Jack will recover and have another battle with someone, possibly Jinbe (who was the other contender to fight Jack). It also seems to pose the question that he may have gotten 1 shot before using his hybrid/awakening, but who knows. On top of this, it does look like Oda wanted to save it all for Kaido vs. the 9 scabbards, not Kaido vs. 7 Scabbards and Jack vs. 2 Scabbards.

However, this depends on Oda not offscreening this next fight with Kaido. If he does, it entirely defeats the purpose of offscreening Jack vs. the Mink Kings.

I'll give you the first bullet. Everyone loves Doflamingo (or at least should love him) more than most villains in this series. Everything else you mention, nearly everything, has been a center of complaints during that arc. Lets go down the list shall we?

- Its not more complex than anything WCI (which had CP-0, royalty, betrayal, Germa, etc all involved in its plot) or Wano (350 chapter samurai plotline, Marine infiltration, Rocks plot, Wano's original purpose in isolation, etc) have achieved with their plots. In fact, Dressrosa was highly criticized for BIRD CAGE and spending way too much time on Luffy vs. Pirates over Ace's fruit. Its also been criticized for putting way too much in its one arc (Green Bit, CP-0, SHF, Ace's fruit with a Tournament, Burgess, Sabo, Fujitora, Kanjuro etc etc etc) . There is a difference between "complexity" and "combining 40 different ideas" in one arc.

-Some people disliked that this occurred over removing half the strawhats. You can argue with those people.

- Not sure I get this point. Yes, a new admiral was introduced and the SHF was a factor this arc. You are just saying you like these characters over the Scabbards and the Supernova for Wano? Because thats what it sounds like you are saying.

- Like i mentioned above....

- Sure. It was a good chapter out of a 100 other ones, as many people would say.

- People question the validity of this statement lol

- People will also question the validity of this statement.

- Sabo eating Ace's fruit was great, I agree.

- Sure? Still didn't really achieve anything.

- Ok, it did nothing for the story (yet).

- Has done nothing for the story except give more questions, how is this any better than the Reverie or Wano questions?

- As opposed to him using it the 2nd or 3rd time? Sure. Even though Snake man is infinitely a cooler transformation imo. You can thank WCI for that one.

The point im making, is all of this is personal opinion about what YOU LIKED about DR lol. None of this points to why WCI or Wano are worse arcs with pure stated fact. Writing is similar between all 3 arcs. Pacing is also similar. Focus on secondary characters is definitely similar. These are facts, not opinions, because you can be shown examples of this between each.
