anyone who read about kabuki act structure knew this. act 1 is slow and introduces the characters. act 2 is a build to a conflict. act 3 is conflict and a tragedy. act 4 is the longest act and is almost entirely fighting. act 5 is resolution.
I think that was obvious, but it came down to the structure being guessed nearly back at the beginning of Act 2 because of how Oda was building off of a general Kabuki play, which is something.
I recall even people guessing generic arc plot to go with it, in that:
- Act 1: Setup
- Act 2: Plot Building (proven true)
- Act 3: Conflict Escalation and the "big" flashback (proven true). The tragedy part hasn't been exactly proven yet but its clear its heading in that direction, at least on failure for the Scabbards
- Act 4: All the battles; longest Act (yes I agree)
- Act 5: Resolution/Epilogue
Its cool because Act 3 ended up being mainly Scabbard focused but the next 40-60 chapters that make up Act 4 will be super pirate centric outside of the general samurai conflict with Orochi and his army. Act 4 i believe is going to be pivotal to this arc and the series as a whole, but I'm mainly excited for the break between Acts 3 and 4, because Oda promised he was going to show us the fates of Sabo, Hancock and Vivi, as well as propel us forward towards escalating some sort of final conflict.
