The rivalry aspect of the supernova isn't really there anymore, Its just Eustass Kidd. Honestly whenever people talk about the supernova, I can't help but think about how much time has been wasted in these arcs post timeskip........ specifically punk hazard and dressrosa. Those 2 arcs did not need to happen it could have been one arc.......Law's plot point with Doflamingo could have literally been resolved in punk hazzard by having doflamingo come there when the everyone was there. Especially when none of the straw hats really grew from those fights in dressrosa anyways. There was no point in fighting an entire warlord crew again.... and the grand fleet literally don't matter.... especially now that we know kinemon and the scabbards had their own fodder allies in wano. We could have gotten to Wano in 2017 if Oda was dragging shit out. In Punk Hazzard and Dressrosa
The post timeskip you could say there have more main objectives they have accomplish in order take down one the four emperors. As well gather other allies bring a down Yonko. So, yes the rivalry is kind of pushed to the side for now at least. However, The stakes kind high for our characters. Law kind gave lays out before us and the set of goals that they have to accomplish. So that way Kaido doesn’t have create more reinforcements under his disposal. He also tell us little bit how to counter yonko system You either continue fighting them, you work under them, or sabotage their operation inside or outside. Which straw hats actually do sabotage Kaido’s Operation as well big mom too in punk hazard and dressrosa. When taking down Caesar you no longer have the drug makers. With donflamingo take down the drug dealer is gone.
Yeah but, Donflamingo was heavily foreshadow to be next villain right after Sabonty in pretimeskip at least. Seeing monet, vergo, Caesar, and donflamingo in punk hazard when straw hats are just celebrating their victory. In my opinion The arc would be a little disappointing the other characters didn’t get shine. You wouldn’t really see other characters progress. It would feel like luffy, zoro, smoker, and Law arc. It’s true during dressrosa the straw hats were separate from one another during that situation. But It did lead somewhere during next arc and the next arc afterwards. The point is you wouldn’t see other straw hats and Donflamingo what they fully capable of. Plus you wouldn’t see how much of villain donflamingo actually is. You wouldn’t really get see the rest his subordinates how they actually like what how powers actually are., You wouldn’t get see Law’s backstory and His personal ties with donflamingo. Finally you wouldn’t really get a lot of reveals during dressrosa and few progression with some our characters. The only things annoyed me dressrosa belllamy situation and how much Rebecca freaking useless. I do like Rebecca backstory and kyros. I do also feel sorry what happens king riku and viola.
