While I do not think that Zoro will be the one to beat Kaido as many on this forum wish I am pretty sure that he will really have a role in the battle against Kaido and that he will deal Kaido a worse injury with Shuusui that anything the Scabbards could have done to him.
You can't bring up Sabaody and the Kidd/Law/Luffy trio and jump to a random Dressrosa scene where Zoro clashes with Fujitora and say "that hints Zoro's purpose in this arc". It doesn't make sense. There is no connection between those 2 things.
I'm not sure if we're reading the same arc or not...
Oda has emphasized that Zoro will fight Kaido and not just be a bodyguard to Luffy on the way to Kaido many times in the last 14 chapters.
Again...
Even more obvious here...
And one last time...
If you haven't noticed already, the last panel makes the interests clear. Zoro and Luffy are both trying to get to Kaido, that's why Luffy says "one more time" because he's trying to get to the roof to get to Kaido and that's why Zoro says "just gotta get up!!" because he's trying to get to Kaido as well.
Sanji and Jimbei on the other hand aren't intending to fight Kaido, they are serving as bodyguards to Luffy and are trying to get him to the roof completely undamaged. Zoro isn't there with Jimbei/Sanji trying to be a bodyguard, he is taking his own route to Kaido. I reckon this Ice Oni stuff is how Zoro rounds up the samurai.
Here are the instances of Sanji/Jinbei expressing their goals.

Zoro received Oden's blade and is implied to surpass Oden by turning Enma blade. He also is the descendant of Ryuma (who cut a dragon) and will probably take Ryuma's place as the guardian of Wano or something along those lines. While the main fight will be Luffy vs Kaido, I suppose that Zoro will at least injure/scar Kaido.
Actually it would be fun if Zoro fought King in base with swordsmanship. Sanji has already bested King with kicks and King is a shown to be a brawler, not a swordsman
it would actually mirror Dressrosa where Zoro fought Pica who is not a swordsman but a brawler primarily

King is Kaido's right hand man, as Zoro is Luffy's right hand man. Of course Zoro will fight him rather than Sanji. King is a swordsman after all. Plus having the epithet wildfire, with Zoro being interested in cutting fire. Just because King has aerial mobility, Sanji is not classified.
Why even give Zoro Enma if he doesn’t do anything against Kaido?
Why didn’t oda just give him nidai kitetsu?
Besides Zoro has repeatedly said he wants to fight Kaido and he also seems to have more of a connection to Wano then any other kingdom and even met the princess of the arc rather than Luffy.
- Both are the right hand man of their respective captains
- King is a swordsman
- Has aerial skills (hence an obstacle Zoro has to overcome as well)
- epithet as "Wildfire"; Zoro wants to learn cutting fire (linked to BoAT)
Not that I don't think Zoro has a chance to cut Kaido and reopen his wound, but maybe he was given Enma because he has the Wado Ichimonji, which was created by the same guy who created Enma, who is the same guy that fathered and trained his own Sensei, who Zoro knows personally? EvenIfZoro does nothing at all against Kaido, that's a solid enough reason for him to have received the Sword.
