Character Discussion Oda failed to make King and Queen menacing characters?

Tbh power level wise i still think that they're all more than strong enough to deal with jinbe zoro and sanji
But characters wise theyve been lacking tho at least for me

- I felt like queen was just beyond dumb during udon essentially training luffy tho he kinda made up for it with his latest game
- King is just straight boring so far. Just another silent badass type like thats just eh imo
This isn't really Oda's fail, he wants them to be like that. We're talking about a guy who:
1) Turned one of Arlong's commanders into the transport tool and other into a weird kisser.
2) Had an eccentric okama as Crocodile's second strongest subordinate.
3) Drew a whole scene about one of Lucci's top subordinates laughing his ass off at his coleague alongside Zoro and Usopp because of his devil fruit, plus the whole Usopp-sword scene, the "oh, it's Usopp" gag with Kaku, Jabra's fear of devil fruits, etc.
4) Do I need to describe Moria's subordinates?
King and Queen are pretty much like Bonez and Bentham. One is serious, impassive, pretty much made to fight with no deeper implication in the plot (let's see if King does, well, something) and the other is eccentric and more entertaining to carry subplots. But Queen is still crazy as hell (his game with the ice ogres is quite menacing) and King is described as a sadist who tried to cut Sanji in half.
I don't know, I find them to be consistent with what Oda has always done.

Jack hype and ijtor was everything that fits beast pirates. He ressembles Kaido in all.

Since I've already read a shitton of mangas: No, Crocodile and Akainu were no menacing characters/villains at all, especially if you compare them to villains of other series.
That's a systematic issue though. You know that Oda writes his story with very little consequences for his main characters, so of course you won't feal much "menace" or "threat" when you look at the villains.

Nah its not cause Queen looks bad....(though last chap didnt help him).
Its that Queen just does not match the aethestic of a Sanji opponent. Unless he has another form that makes him slimer and faster than he wouldnt be such a useless opponent. But we know hes a Zoan user so his only other forms are Full Zoan and Hybrid. And his Full Zoan form looks fat and slow af.
Queen just doesnt suit Sanji. His boosters and flight technology will be wasted on him. Not only that....but King will be wasted on Zoro.
Like ive stated Zoro's opponents dont fight with Sanji....and vice versa, until theyve atleast got set-up with the other one.
Again I dont think Zoro will be fight Queen. He has his set up with Kaido and Orochi...the 2 antagonists of the arc. He will reopen Kaido's scar and defeat Orochi.

Fans have short memory and high expectations. They easily forgot how hard it was for Luffy to beat Cracker n Katakuri.
I am still on Tag Team battles. Maybe Zoro n Sanji will finish the fight on their own in the end but they definitely having help during the fights Against King n Queen.
