We saw numbers as early as Oden's execution but the scabbards were like "what the hell is that"

Kaido had been in want for 5+ years and the scabbards had ever seen the numbers. They we're not even present a few days back when Kaido and oden and the scabbards fought in Udon.

The New World started acknowledging Luffy since the time Shanks saved him and then travelled to the new world.

I bet there has been a long story... also it might have happened before too since Garp was also well known in the New World since the time Luffy would be born and even earlier.
