It's been 4 years since he is yonko. Then 2 years time skip. Of course 4 years is long, could be even months or 1-2 years since WB heard him.

Captain strength detemines everything in One piece pirate world, even zoro said that in fishman island when Luffy used CoC. So no excuses, Shanks got stronger 6 years before by beating someone like Marco or Katakuri level opponent, Mihawk never did that even with Vista who is weaker than Marco. Marco would destroy Mihawk if he fought him instead Vista.
They all run away from Big mom after that, Jinbe and co was running away from Big mom so she proved she is stronger than them. She one-shotted Judge. She beat G4 Luffy. We know she is stronger than Katakuri who is suppose to be stronger than Vista.
Crocodile and Vista didn't run from Mihawk, not even Buggy, he didn't run from Mihawk. Big mom and Mihawk are different levels.

Title aren't just rumors, that's one of the worst headcanons ever heard. You cannot take an author's statement and affirm it's a rumor lol.

Shanks wont help Luffy at Wano imo, its too much since the amount of YC1 guys in alliance is already enough to match BM and Kaidou. So after this, Shanks maybe will be shown clashing with BB's crew, or Elbaf's giants, etc. But those clashes' climax will be offscreened as well
