So what makes Enma different from wado?

Their difference in sharpness and control, Zoro is being too cautious with Enma because if Zoro is careless Enma could suck out all his Haki like it did first time, thats why Zoro used minimum Haki on it so it wouldnt go crazy, he is not concerned about his other 2 swords since the other 2 doesnt drain his Haki and are already under control, it just like how he controlled Kitetsu which was cutting things on its own
and yes Enma I believe is the Highest Quality among the 21 O wazomono, only one step (blackening) behind 12 Supreme Wazomono...so I believe Enma is sharper than Wado

And things seems pretty clear to me, Zoro is holding back his own power not that the sword has an inner power.

I can’t wait to see him used Koka on Enma

It's possible that he's holding back Enma's power because it's too draining to make use of it.

I think the most likely scenario for now remains my initial assumption. Enma allows Zoro to do more with it than he can with his other swords, but at the cost of much of his Haki reserves.

It's a power up , but with a similar downside to Luffy's G4. You can do more with it than without, but uses you as fuel to achieve that.

Because Enma does not make Zoro stronger just by holding it, the sword in itself does not give Zoro more power. It just allows Zoro to use is full potential.

Considering that Enma is a power up is like considering that Zoro’s dumbbell are power ups.

Yes and it disproves your theories that he didn't master Enma.

It does make my conclusion that Zoro hadn't mastered Enma less likely. He didn't release enough haki with the attack. I initially concluded that he couldn't, that seems less likely now. Zoro may have just been overly cautious.

He didn't use enough haki to harden his blades. He comments that he needs to unleash Enma more, so he intends to release more haki with his next attacks.

I think this is plausible. I'm not sure this is exactly how it works, and Enma doesn't have any haki of its own, but it doesn't seem unreasonable that Zoro may be able to produce a stronger slash with Enma than otherwise. It's not yet clear this is the case.

I expect how exactly Enma functions to become clear over the course of the arc.

The situation seems clear to me.

Zoro's didn't want to use too much Haki to avoid losing control (no hardening for example).

As he gets more comfortable he'll open the tap and increase his attack power.
