Sometimes I wish people with an IQ of 100 and beyond would grasp the simple notion that 'dumping someone over a fictional character' does not necessarily imply that the fictional character in question is itself the sole reason for the event to occur, but that the wrong manners and the wrong way of reasoning of the counterpart were foremostly the triggering agents of such event. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.
