Vergo vs. Law was basically Doffy's God Thread vs. Luffy's KKG and Kaido's Blazing Bagua vs. Luffy's Bajrang Gun all over again, with the villain taking the attack head on and being overpowered.
Doffy, despite having weaker armament hardening than Vergo, was more cautious and didn't allow Law's slashes to connect.
People are not prepared for Vergod's true power level.

But at the same time Armament Haki isn't everything, and it's not like Vergo's Armament is that great anyway
Best feat he has with it is breaking Smoker's Haki-infused Jitte, but I mean, it's PH Smoker, so..
I still don't see how he could beat a biscuit soldier even with feats like that.

Superior portrayal. Both Doffy and Caesar emphasized the strength of Vergo's Haki. Vivre Card also made the distinction between koka (hardening) for Pica and chou koka (super hardening) for Vergo. Even like 20 years ago, Vergo was seen immediately going full body Haki to trash the shit out of Rosinante, turning a bamboo stick into a deadly weapon that breaks through Smoker's hakified Jitte and one shotting him.

Doflamingo was bleeding with armament hardening on his hand by simply grabbing Law's hakiless sword. His CoA is nothing special at all.
This is irrelevant, Vergo and Pica fell around the same time in the series and they are part of the same org, the vcs must have came out at the same time and in the entire Doflamingo crew only Vergo was stated to be "Super Hardening" it's clear he was #1 in the entire crew when it comes to it.

Vergo's CoA hardening is so elite that he gained an entire epithet around it too, making an ordinary bamboo stick into a demonic weapon. It's crazy that his comrades were specifically talking about a category of haki to hype him, outside of Katakuri with observation (which he was clear cut #1 at in the entire crew) have we ever seen something like this?
