Time of Bayou: let's say that, for some reason, Riboku has decided to target Renpa instead of Ouki. At the time Renpa is in Wei (so he'll be leading a Wei army and has his 4 HK).
With the intent of killing him, does Riboku prepare for Renpa a similar trap to the one he employed for Ouki? Does he change his subordinate usage? (Houken, Keisha, Bananji, SSJ)? Basically, how differently does he approach this?
Ouki vs Duke Hyou, war (even armies/subordinates).
I'd say Ouki but it's going to be a close one for sure. The Duke's insticts are insane and his main soldiers are actually even slightly stronger than Ouki's like the man himself said.
So, about Kanmei: we know he has a service record which was framed similarly to that of Kyou of the Qin Six ("100 cities taken") and hadn't lost before Moubu. He also had made Oukotsu, a Qin Six, retreat by defeating him a in duel.
Look: outrageously good martial monster and a morale booster/leader too. That's what we saw against Moubu.
I look forward to Yotanwa and her mountain madlads fighting again. In the Western Zhao arc they were straight up monsters, they are one terrifying force to face.
So, Ouki had at least some degree of knowledge about Ousen's and Kanki's capabilities.
Riboku's name emerged from the darkness when he first appeared.
But, I ask, how much would someone like Renpa have known about Riboku...?
From Renpa's initial reaction to Ouki's death (him kinda downplaying Ouki), he was at the very least (previously) underestimating what Riboku was capable of doing.
As much as either guy has the capability to outplay/fool the other, with them going back and forth (and we might see some nutty stuff from Ousen soon)...for now at least, Riboku still is overall the slightly superior mind.
And man...just who else in history is gonna have an edge on Ousen in a clash of warfare intellect? I'm not sure lol.
Man, what is Hara gonna have Shin do to surpass Riboku?
Aside from his other achievements, I had been thinking (like others) that he was gonna have Shin outright slay Renpa but, since that wouldn't necessarily mean he surpassed Riboku, then Shin besting Kouen, a Riboku lv or Riboku lv+ commander, would do it.
Regardless of what he does, man, Shin has an absolutely freaking, stupidly insane task in front of him.
@Elder Lee Hung When it comes to the Ordo/Kochou comparison, I hadn't kept in mind this: I'm not sure Ousen would have been drawn outright saying "What an idiot" to Kochou. So, there might be that lol.
I stumbled upon a Reddit post having as matchup Renpa vs Kanki and people are like "Yeah, no way in hell Kanki wins", "Renpa smokes him", "atrocious matchup for Kanki" (why...?) but...folks are sleeping on Kanki lol.
I too have Renpa as the superior general overall (and he'd be the better asset for a state) but Kanki's warfare is fucking nasty, things can turn into a real nightmare for the opponent.
Beki and Reki opening their doors and surrendering to the Chu, their citizens being put into Chu armies and then Man'U/Sento'Un slaughtering them like pigs and subsequently "breaking". Chu took care of those states and even gave a base to be defended by those same commanders (that they broke) in a key location, which proceeds to gains fame.
One of Riboku's feats which I think tends to slide a bit into the background is actually the first we got from him. Yotanwa was going to war against the Xiongnu, who she said had military strenght and warfare understanding several times greater than the tribes they had fought so far, with them being the reason of Qin, Zhao and Yan erecting the great wall on their borders...
Regardless of the variations Hara has taken/will take...by the time of Riboku's death, it's gonna be something to look back and see everything he has been as a military man. What a portrayal.
In-manga, what kind of monster will Shin have to be to decisively say he has surpassed the likes of Li Mu (and such) and has finally elevated himself as the greatest General under the Heavens? Lol.
