If the point of Armament Haki is to become hard either for hitting or getting hit, wouldn't it be unnecessary for Robin, who is using strength and grappling to break opponents?
Every Strawhat has broken the mold in some way, though. Maybe Carrot is just the first Strawhat that doesn't have any major trauma that requires central focus, and just wants to hang out as support.
As a counterpoint, Zoro's backstory felt like a bit of a joke to me. Half of the focus was on Kuina feeling sidelined for being a girl, a thread that has nothing to do with Zoro at all... then she died from falling down stairs? It doesn't matter, though, because Zoro is an awesome character with...
That's fair, and I would personally say that Carrot is less than likely to become a mainstay Strawhat, but "their backstory isn't compelling" wouldn't be an argument against it either. Carrot not getting much panel time in Wano is more objective... but then it's not like Jimbei got panel time in...
How compelling a backstory is is completely subjective. Carrot snuck on the Sunny because she wanted to see the world, but by the end of WCI put her life on the line to let her new friends escape... I'd say that's going pretty far.
True, but Luffy 100% would have let Rebecca join the crew even...
We've come to expect so much from each new Strawhat, so people write Carrot off because there's no room for an extended flashback. But like... Zoro was the first Strawhat, and his backstory was literally "my friend who wanted to be strong died, also I want to be strong". Jimbei had a backstory...
Because Luffy is strongly tied both to the sun and bringing the dawn, so whatever Momonosuke does has to involve Luffy. Obviously, he could be with Luffy, but since it's something that only he can do, maybe it will be something in Wano.
There are other ways of "inverting" what the conclusion of the myth... Kaido wants Yamato to remain in a closed Wano and control it for him, while the conclusion could be that Yamato protects an open Wano by charging forward. Wano was closed 800 years ago against an external threat, maybe now it...
Not that I have a better hypothesis, but Momonosuke leaving Wano without Luffy doesn't really feel like "guiding the world to the dawn" to me. It seems like he either needs to do something in Wano for Luffy, or go with Luffy.
Oh, I stopped at Sanji because I couldn't find one for him... He joined when Nami was gone, then they just had the party at the end of Arlong Park, with no explicit toast. Thanks!
Here are the toasts for new members. Chopper:

Jimbei didn't get one, as Luffy wants to wait:
IMO this is the most convincing evidence that the crew will change by the end of Wano.
Assuming that Robin isn't using Armament Haki, the shading could be making her one of the "shadows" from Toki's prophecy... some of the other Strawhats were also shaded at the end of their fights.
This does make sense, but it also seems redundant, as most people think that this will be Tama. Tama the Kurozumi working with Momo the Kozuki, healing the wounds of the past.
Someone else is talking? Maybe I blocked it out...
It could be this, but I have to believe that Oda has had this planned for a lot longer. Yamato is part of Kaido's main plan, which I would say means that the character has been in mind since Kaido's plan was decided on. I'll hold out hope that...
