Does Yamato even know that Luffy wants to be Pirate King? All that Yamato could know about Luffy is what Ace as said and what was printed in newspapers. Every straw hat has been declaring their faith in Luffy becoming Pirate King, so I thought Yamato might do the same, but with his actual...
Nami was asking Luffy for help, and he and the crew helped. Yamato is asking Luffy for a ride, and he and the crew may or may not give it to Yamato. If they do, it doesn't automatically imply Yamato is going to be a member of the crew.
It could be this, but what I'm saying is that it could also...
Just pasting the original for reference, and it would be literally translated as "I, together with Luffy, will go to the sea". It could have been "with the Strawhats" if the plan was to become a crew mate.
I just think it's weird that everyone takes it for granted that Yamato even wants to be a part of the crew... Yamato wants to live free and go on adventures, which might not equate with the Strawhats agenda of going to Laughtale (which Yamato may already know the secrets of through Oden's...
Reminder that Yamato asked "for a ride on his ship" and wanted to "go out to sea with Luffy" which is not the same thing as joining the crew. Robin was the only Strawhat to ask to join, and she asked to join the crew, which is different.
Yamao is a funny nickname since it's basically Yama-guy, to go with Jaggy-guy for Kid and Tora-guy for Law... Yamato corrected Luffy but he didn't care, so it'll be interesting to see what Luffy calls Yamato when they meet again, especially if Yamato drops the Oden thing and identifies as...
I think most people don't mind a dumb character, but it is annoying how everyone in Wano can't see him as anything but a great guy... would be impressive if Oda could somehow bring it around and make people in the story realize he was partially responsible.
Something I never understood that I'd be curious to hear peoples thoughts on: what does Yamato mean by "followed the proper logic"?

Ace only rode on Whitebeard's ship like 15+ years after Oden did, and Ace only met Whitebeard after meeting Yamato. Also, it was Whitebeard's ship that...
What exactly would you say his flaw was? That he wanted to be free even though he had responsibilities, that he put his freedom over the country, that he tried to take on all the burdens himself, or something else? Oda clearly designed him to be flawed, but to me it's not clear what Oda would...
With everyone heading to the live floor, I think it makes way more sense for Kaido (and maybe Yamato) to come down through the roof instead having people head to the roof. It's been teased a few times:
That would be a really simple way of bringing all the Strawhats and Kaido together at once.
Yeah this is something people completely write off. Yamato asks "as Oden" for "a ride" and says they're "going to sea with Luffy". We assume that, since they want to go on an adventure, this means that Yamato is inviting themselves to the crew. And since we're fans, we're constantly trying to...
This is interesting, but I'd say the fight order went more like:
Red Scabbards vs Kaido
Five Supernova vs Two Yonko
Luffy vs Kaido
Yamato vs Kaido
So if this is the Momotaro moment, maybe Marco could take over after Yamato loses.
Warning: This is a long post (>2500 words). If you don't want to consider the possibility that someone besides Luffy (or Zoro) will defeat Kaido, turn back now, it's not worth your time. I am also only talking about what happens before the raid ends, so nakama discussion is irrelevant here...
