I'm asking out of curiosity and need to know.
I am 23 years old,and personally I have not been able to enjoy my school life as I should have. I wasn't bullied or anything like that . The reasons for this were various problems caused by my Asperger's syndrome. I was sad about it for a while, but thanks to the encouragement of my family and therapists, I'm now in good spirits. I know I'm in the prime of my youth and I have plenty of time and opportunities ahead of me to make up for it.
I recently started a course to fully master English as my second language, and I have enrolled in a technical course that will start in February next year. I intend to graduate from college and university here in my city, and if by then I have fully mastered English,I want to do an exchange program in the United States.
I want to graduate from another college and university there, and eventually move there when I move out of my parents's house.
So I want to know in advance what life is like in these study environments in the United States. No one better to tell me this than the people who are native there.
How would you describe college and university life based on your own experiences ? Are they good environments to learn, socialize, find yourself and grow as a person ?
How autism-friendly is the United States as a country ? Is society there kind and supportive of people like me ? Has anyone here ever met an autistic person in high school, college or university ? If so,how were they treated there ?
