Obviously he has a different path compared to Kid Law Smoker or Gar. Coby has his own story. The weakling who man up and became a monster.

Being a luffy fan boy won’t stop him from achieving his dream and becoming strong and fighting Luffy seriously

Maybe one day, for once, after another thousand chapters (becaus 1060 so far clearly didn't do any favor), Coby will not be a fodder compared to Sanji or even Jinbe, and then you can finally have a single real basis to claim he's becoming stronger than Garp EoS and giving Luffy a great fight.

Luffy fought someone he can't counter. Coby fought a bunch of archers with an army at his side. That's not even remotely the same thing. Coby dodged her when she was randomly targeting everyone. He was still helpless and was almost OHKO'ed if it weren't for BB's intervention. Marco's the second weakest YC1 after Katakuri but that's beside the point. Marco gets petrified if he's a simp like BB but if he could resist Boa to the same degree that Coby did, then he'd food Hancock.

The top 3 on the island were inside the castle so he was fighting the Kuja warriors. They were destroying Boa's underlings even before BB's intervention. Everything you can't counter with an argument doesn't automatically become crazy. He was asking her to surrender peacefully. That doesn't mean he wasn't ready to use violence—They were wiping out the Kuja team even as Coby was making the announcement.

He was in no shape to move. He barely noticed her before BB came in and stopped her mid-attack.

We went there ready to capture her using violence if necessary. He didn't say he didn't want to fight her. He said the Navy doesn't want to fight her to get her to surrender. That's how police do things. The fact that he's using the Pacifista to attack them proves he's more than willing to use violence.

Luffy resisted her, and Coby resisted her, so she was clearly wrong. Most men can't resist her; that doesn't mean all men can't do it. There is no downplaying Coby here. It was incredibly impressive that Coby resisted Boa's charms. I merely said Marco would destroy Boa if he could resist her to the same degree that Coby did. But if he's a simp like Helmeppo, then he's getting petrified too.

Konohamaru also had a goal and was given care enough by Kishimoto to fight a pain.

I wasn't really invested in naruto so not really sure about konohamaru, but i think someone who's been trained by garp and just got captured by luffy's "opposite" seems to be rather relevent in the story right now at least.
I know being an admiral isn't really a challenge for EOS luffy but i dont think he just gonna fanboy as well, if he does that just makes him and the marines look really bad.

What really bothers me about the idea of Coby being the next Garp and Rival to Goofy is that it suggests coby will at some point be stronger than Zoro, and I just can't see servant boy ever doing that. He is the next [green hair guy] because he is really good at dick riding goofy. It's crazy because that's apparently suppose to be his rival

Are there also other examples of this trope?

For example in HxH it could be either one between Zushi or Leorio, in principle, obviously you ain't gonna find another character that overlaps exactly in a parallel.

Funnily enough in the comment section there are those who think that Zushi could be the next Netero

To some extent I agree, Coby will be the hero who saves lives, Smoker will be the one after Luffy.
